Brusimm Cinema Static TV NewsYahoo News reported the other day that Anna Kournikova is not reprising her coaching role after the close of this latest season of The Biggest Loser.

Kournikova came in to replace Jillian Michaels on The Biggest Loser, but it seems that the transition period didn’t go too well for Anna.

Reports say she allegedly clashed with staff and contestants found her approach brash, as her team got no sympathy from her.

When they grumbled, apparently they got some routine about her own tough childhood.  (Wow, the 5 mile, uphill, in the snow line!)

Per the Yahoo article one source referred to Anna Kournikova as a nightmare to deal with and would never be mistaken as a life coach.

Christopher Meloni

.

When the last contract negotiations took a long time for Christopher Meloni and the Law & Order: SVU drama, I had my worries and they were two-fold.  First, if they’re bartering this hard this time, what will happen next time? My other worry as the eye an actor might keep on pricing themselves out of a series.

I’m for asking for pay-raises, but if my forcing the issue will get me “let go,” I’d think twice.

In this case, for Meloni, he wanted what he wanted and NBC couldn’t pony up. With that in mind, we will not be seeing Meloni in the 13th season of Law & Order:SVU. He’s out.

I wonder how that is going to pan out… Hargity renewed her contract but with the clause of less of a workload demand while rumors (which is what I take them at) on the street were that NBC was looking at Jennifer Love Hewitt to come on-board.

2011 Super Bowl in North Texas - brusimmAt one point in time, the TV commercials that ran during the Super Bowl would amaze and tickle the funny bone.  Then suddenly the ads for the Super Bowl became something more as someone had the great idea to capitalize on the ads impact on the viewers.  Face it, at one point they were so funny that they took on a life of their own.  Heck, it’s my wife’s birthday and she wants to be home for the Super Bowl to see what ads play.  (Yes, I’m lucky that way!)

But the last few years, as expectations were built up the let-down factor had been pretty high as far as I’m concerned.  Hence, the pressure is on for the commercial makers to try and create something memorable.  That’s the challenge anyway in creating an ad, but for the Super Bowl, ads are held to a much higher standard.

At some point, it is possible that this hoopla about the TV commercials will fade.  Consider this:

With 30-second commercials in the past costing up to $2.8 million, this year’s estimates suggest that the ad-time is around $3m per 30-second spot.  But if the ads don’t pay off and end up as entertainment disappointments, will this hurt the advertisers?  Or will our going on and on about them give them the value they were looking for?  My first guess:  As we chat about them, like in this article, it helps.  But the bottom line is what going to count for the advertisers dropping this kind of money on the Super Bowl.

Losing it with Jillian on NBC (Jillian Michaels)

Jillian Michaels is finding herself getting sued … again. This time, the 4th lawsuit lobbed at her in recent time, is about how her ‘Triple Process Total Body Detox & Cleanse product’ just might kill you.

The suit tries to point out that the ingredients of the product can cause all sorts of issues because some of the ingredients are used to dissolve ice on airplane wings, or that it contains a product that is a toxic weed that causes dermatitis, etc., etc..

Ah, and of course, for the plaintiff bringing all of this tragedy to our attention in a lawsuit, she also wants $10 million.

Losing it with Jillian on NBC

The latest episode of Losing it With Jillian had Jillian Michaels headed out to the Yavapai-Apache Nation in Camp Verde, Arizona to work with the Plunkett-Marquez family. Her approach to this situation seemed much different than usual. Though she was headed out to help the Plunkett-Marquez family, Jillian comes to realize that it’s not just the family, but the people, as a group, that would seem to have bad eating habits. In one example Losing it With Jillian brought to our attention was frybread, a deep fried bread that they later pour all kinds of yummy toppings on. Jillian herself was losing it when she saw how the group mind-set was when it came to eating.

In the process, Jillian upsets the entire tribe by tossing away their frybread. In their mind, food is never a thing to waste, though later Jillian is trying to explain it wasn’t really food she tossed, but poison! Jillian tries to get the tribal nation of peoples to show up for for a few events so she can educate the many, rather than the few. That didn’t go so well and I’m not sure exactly how many people were really in Camp Verde, but I don’t think it was an entire nation.

Jillian suddenly realizes she can’t take on an entire tribe but rather, she needs to focus on the individual family who have an important position within the community.

Losing it with Jillian on NBC

After watching the premiere episode of Losing it with Jillian, I found it to tbe the same routine that we see on The Biggest Loser. The differences are that Jillian spends a week in the home of the family she’s tormenting… I mean visiting, and her focus is on the entire family.

The premise is inspiring because if you watch it, you learn things. If you hear what Jillian Michaels has to say, there are some nuggets of wisdom that anyone can glean from her perspectives on what better foods there are to eat and how to approach eating.

With that said:

To me the show had an odd pace to it. Jillian first showed up in their town and called the family and told them to meet her at the gym. The introductions came in the form of Jillian telling everyone to git to work on the treadmill or bicycle.

The yelling at the exercising family commenced almost immediately. One thing that stood out for me, (Not in a great way) was when mom and dad started to immediately say they couldn’t take the exercise pace any more.  They wanted to quit after 15 minutes and Jillian stormed out.  Suddenly the son and daughter were surrogate Jillian’s yelling at their parents about wanting to live. It seemed contrived to me.

Jillian Michaels of The Biggest Loser was busted a bit the other day.

Apparently while posting on Facebook she referred to having a few hours to herself before headed off to Biggest Loser, saying “Monkeys are back on campus.”

Apparently over 600 “fans” left their thumbs down while taking offense to the comment.

That’s a big oops Jillian!

NBC passed it off as a term of endearment.  Me, I’m  going to refrain from calling anyone out there any kind of term of endearment.

Folks are worried about the fact that contestants are getting larger with each successive season of The Biggest Loser.

One of the trainers, Jillian Michaels, says that as trainers, they have no say over the physical challenges presented to the contestants and they worry about them.

This year is going to be even more worrisome as they have 3 of the heaviest people the show has ever seen, including a man that weighs just over 500 pounds.

The Biggest Loser’s 9th season kicks it in gear tonight, Tuesday, 1/5/10 with a new couples season.  I enjoy the show because of what they do teach people who watch the show.  They send a message that can help many improve their health.

There’s a great, at-length interview / article on Jillian Michaels at Ladies Home Journal.
