jim beaver

It’s seemingly official, and that is that the Supernatural character, Bobby Singer, is dead.  But that’s OK, since Jim Beaver is headed off to Justified!

Bobby Singer is a character played by Jim Beaver on the CW network series, Supernatural.  The series stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, brothers, who up until now, have depended heavily from time to time on their mentor, Bobby’s help.

Idjits.

But when Bobby was shot, I wasn’t too worried because several months prior, Sera Gamble said that he’ll be a fixture for many seasons to come.

Boy, did I bite that bait!

SUPERNATURAL, Jim Beaver

When Bobby Singer, played by Jim Beaver, was first shot in the head during an episode of Supernatural, I wasn’t too worried.  When he lay there in the hospital bed in a coma in a subsequent episode, I still wasn’t too worried.

I was wondering what exactly will happen and how they will deal with this life-altering moment with Bobby’s character in Supernatural.

And I wasn’t worried because in June of 2011, the news was that even though Jim Beaver wasn’t full-time on the show, that it worked out perfectly for him to be a part-time cast member/character.

But the mid-season finale of Supernatural in December, with Bobby fighting off the Reaper was a very touching send off.

But…

And then “the lie” that fooled me!

Sera Gamble (Supernatural‘s showrunner) said that we will be seeing Bobby Singer in season 7 of Supernatural and called the character a fixture.  She even touched on enjoying his being part-time and about the possibility of his going full-time in future seasons.

Wow, was that not a powerful episode of Supernatural or what?  The last episode of Supernatural saw the Leviathon, Dick Roman, put a bullet in Bobby Singers (Jim Beaver) head.

The following TV review is full of SPOILERS, so proceed at your own risk!

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in Supernatural ep Death's Door

In the mid-season finale episode titled “Death’s Door,” we find ourselves split between two worlds.  The one where Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) are waiting, worried, in the hospital, and the other where Bobby is floating around through various memories of his life.

Bobby runs across the deceased Rufus (Steven Williams) [It was good to see Rufus again!] and other memories like when as a child, confronting his abusive father.

All the while, Bobby is trying to fend off, run from or stall the reaper from taking him.

Supernatural Recap

As the Supernatural episode started, I feared that what we were seeing in the first 15 minutes was going to be some silly collection of scene recaps.  I feared the doldrums.  Silly me, what was I thinking?

The following news bits came from the Comic Con panels for The Vampire Dairies, Supernatural and Doctor Who.  This article closes out all my notes from last weekend and now, I have to sort out my pictures from the weekend and go from there… Comic Con pics coming soon!  -

"Comic Con" News

The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries Comic Con panel really didn’t produce much news… just really great banter amongst the panelists:

The panel included Joseph Morgan, Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Candice Accola and Paul Wesley.  Exec producer Kevin Williamson was also there.

Another panel birthday at Comic Con, this time the crowd sang happy birthday to Paul Wesley.

Speaking of Wesley, he said he’ll be enjoying embracing the darker side of Stefan.

Dobrev said she likes playing both characters.  Something about the nest of both worlds.

We have not seen the last of Elijah.

Damon is not happy how things are turning out at the moment.

Misha Collins tweeting again as Misha Collins in SUPERNATURAL on The CWIf you recall, a few weeks back in mid-May I mentioned that Misha Collins‘ role as Castiel was being cut back to a limited capacity on the CW series Supernatural.

We had started wondering of Collins was leaving Supernatural on May 1st because of a few sporadic tweets from an account that was subsequently shut down.  Misha Collins didn’t respond to the rumors either, via his own Twitter account, to sooth the worried fans.  Isn’t that just like that pesky guy?

With the rolling back of Castiel making any appearances, some were suspecting that Jim Beaver would step up and have a larger role in the series.  But it would seem that even though he’s a very popular, fatherly figure in the story about the Winchester brothers, he’s quite happy showing up only when needed.

Apparently Jim Beaver has been chatted with about going full-time on the series, but he’s been quoted to saying that,

“Every season since, we discuss it, but at present it seems that the existing situation is the best one we can agree on.”

Further info adds to that statement to round it out, that the offers that he’s received to go full-time isn’t sufficient to offset the costs of moving his family to Vancouver, where Supernatural shoots.

Supernatural Season Finale Review

-

When Supernatural on The CW kicked in their sixth season, I think many people were wondering how it would go.  Eric Kripke had stepped back and Sera Gamble stepped up and took the creative reigns.  I have to say that as far as I can tell, Supernatural didn’t skip a beat.  The classic rock music injected perfectly, the humor that lies underneath the stories and the story itself, the main plot, underneath it all, moved forward.  Sometimes in tiny pieces and sometimes in entire episodes.

Albeit it, the show kept its charm and character and was not disappointing in this extra, or sixth season.  I say extra because Kripke only had five seasons mapped out.  He stepped back because his story was done.  But when the CW renewed the series, they had to step up, and I’m sure the fans are glad they did.  That’s when Sera Gamble stepped in.  And having been one of Kripke’s right-hand persons, she had taken her notes well and employed them rather well.

With that, herein lies my recap/review of the sixth season finale of Supernatural

Spoilers are abound:

In the first part/episode of the Supernatural season closer, titled “Let It Bleed,” it starts out with Crowley (Mark Sheppard) stepping outside his boundaries and kidnapping Lisa and Ben to keep Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) busy.  Busy trying to find them.  But Crowley had stepped out of line doing this, but regardless of how angry Cas (The ever popular fan favorite Misha Collins) is about this, Crowley doesn’t care anymore.

I’ve been wondering what Skeet Ulrich has been up to since his excellent appearance on CSI:NY as a murderous madman… and guess what? I found out!  Skeet Ulrich will be starring in the upcoming new spinoff legal procedural, Law & Order: Los Angeles.  I’m sure you guys already know this, but if anyone out there is like me and was pondering the idea of boycotting the new show…  well, here’s some news to ruin your plans!

Ulrich will be playing detective Rex Winters, along with Corey Stoll who plays detective Tomas “TJ” Jarusalski, both members of the Los Angeles Police Department’s elite Robbery Homicide Division.

Their district attorney, who is a sarcastic realist will be played by Alfred Molina. (I really like sarcastic realists.)

Terrence Howard has also joined the cast, plus we’ll see Wanda De Jesus, Regina Hall, Supernatural’s own Jim Beaver as Frank Loomis, Oded Fehr who is no longer guarding mummy secrets, Danielle Panabaker and bunches more.
