Brusimm Cinema Static Movie NewsThe following are some Cinema Static thoughts or opinions on The Avengers; the early sales of The Dark Knight Rises movie tickets and and taking 21 Jump Street down the comedic route… what???

Read on gang, see what I have to say…  =

The Avengers

the avengers - captain america

If you have not heard, it seems like The Avengers movie is going to be presented to the movie-goer from the perspective of Steve Rogers, aka, Captain America.

Which might make sense, since in the comics, Captain America led the Avengers.

It will be interesting as Joss Whedon has brought ensembles to the fans before and how he’s choosing to bring the narrative to the movie-goer now.

I’m looking forward to The Avengers.

The Dark Knight Rises

Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Rises

Did you know that some screenings of The Dark Knight Rises have already sold out?  Yep… the movie doesn’t come out until July, but Fandango has been selling tickets to the movie already.  This has culminated in the sell-outs of midnight screenings of The Dark Knight Rises in New York and Los Angeles.

Boo… if you life in LA or NY.

Cinema Static, TV News, Movie News and OpinionHey gang, the things that caught my eye recently was a piece about Joss Whedon addressing the 3d post-conversion of The Avengers, that there will more than likely not be  a Buffy remake and Lady Gaga showing more appreciation to her fans.

Joss Whedon on The Avengers Post-Conversion to 3D

THE AVENGERS movie clip cap

While we know that Disney is Jonesing to release (and will) Joss Whedon’s movie, The Avengers, in 2D and 3D, which isn’t a surprise, being as how the entire industry is continually trying to shove 3D down the consumers throat.  Now I just wish more consumers would speak with their wallets about the issue!

But the website, JoBlo, had caught up with Joss Whedon to chat with him about the 3D release and we learned this from the site:

Whedon knew about the conversion to 3D.  CONVERSION?  Yep, The Avengers is being post-converted to 3D.

This conversion was on his mind during the entire time while filming The Avengers but he also tried to sooth fan’s nerves by saying that the movie won’t go overboard with the 3D process, meaning that we won’t find ourselves travelling through a tunnel for 20 minutes in any scene just because it’s in 3D.

The Avengers opens in movie theaters on May 4th, 2012.

Finally, after all this time, we’re getting our first real video teaser of the Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard movie, The Cabin in the Woods.  It’s been a long road traveled by few, as the film had been completed in mid-2009, but they ran into multiple issues when MG first delayed its release to post-convert it to 3D, and then ran into their financial bump in the road which put the movie into a sort of limbo.  But things started pulling together and finally, we’re seeing new posters and teaser trailers!

The Cabin In The Woods movie poster

A movie poster for Cabin in the Woods came out last week and that was a huge improvement over the old red teaser posters that came out some time ago.

But be it as it may, The Cabin in the Woods survived the MGM bankruptcy and is moving forward for release on April 13th, 2012.

Brusimm Cinema Static Movie NewsToday I’m sticking some movie news out there about some favorite movie projects of mine…  of the news, I received the one-sheet for Joss Whedon‘s The Cabin in the Woods, and some news bites for Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises and Ridley Scott’s Prometheus!  Yummy good stuff.

Check it out:

Finally A New Poster for The Cabin In The Woods

The one-sheet for the movie from Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard was released to the general small-press!  (That’s me!)  That movie is called The Cabin In the Woods.

The Cabin in the Woods is directed by Goddard and written by both Goddard and Joss Whedon, with Whedon producing.

It stars Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whiteford, Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Fran Kranz, Kristen Connolly, Brian White, Amy Acker and a whole bunhc more!

Below is the new movie poster.  And I think I’ve seen the script for it, and the poster, to me, makes perfect sense.

All I’m going to say is that in the poster, we’re looking up at the house.  And that falls right in line with something I know from the supposed script.  Merhaha.  Just mark my words.

The Cabin in the Woods is due out April 13th, 2012.  Check out the poster after the break…

Brusimm Cinema Static Movie NewsThe other day someone asked me a question about a movie and I drew a wonderfully large, blank answer for them.  LOL.  Just a stress moment or two I guess.  But it sparked a thought and so I went digging and pulled up the production status’ of some of the more popular, or anticipated or chatted about movies out there over under IMDb…  check it out…

Movie Titles in Development

For most, development is just a technical term for the idea that it’s being thought about.  For some films, development stage is where no market test supports an idea and studios with money stop thinking about it!

·     The Fast and the Furious 6: Directed by Justin Lin, starring of course, Vin Diesel!  Due out May of 2013

·     Ghostbusters III:  Directed by Ican Reitman, with Eliza Dushku, Bill Murray and the gang… it’s due out whenever they figure out that 2nd draft of the screenplay!

·     Avatar 2, from James Cameron, is due out Dec of 2014.

·     The Wolverine, directed by James Mangold (Knight and Day).  Hugh Jackman is due to return sometime in 2013.

·     Jurassic Park IV is noted as story ideas being considered.

As we all know, Joss Whedon found time to make another small, independent flick called Much Ado About Nothing.  When I first posted the press release for the movie, all we knew that he found some bit of time to make a movie while directing The Avengers.  Seriously?

Yep…

Joss Whedon's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

What Joss Whedon did do was that when filming for The Avengers wrapped, instead of taking a vacation with his wife, his wife gave him permission to go off and film this movie, Much Ado About Nothing, which apparently, is something he’s been wanting to do for a very long time.  Years to be exact.

And as we all know, when a hubby is given permission to do something we want to do, well, we don’t think twice, and bolt out the door like there’s no tomorrow!

So Joss gathered a few Whedonverse alumni and a few other actors and shot his self-funded movie at his Santa Monica, CA home.  He filmed it in 12 days and on black & white.

The film was shot under the banner of Bellwether Pictures, a small independent studio that Joss and his wife formed for the purpose of creating self made, small movies.

His plan is to have it ready for the various film festivals in 2012.

-

Filming wrapped on Sunday and then a few of the cast had Tweeted about it.  Then another site, three hours later, claimed an exclusive and announced the film too, but with no more information than the simple tweets had pointed out.  Eh, a few hours later an official press release showed up (by clicking on the orange glass) on the site.

Joss Whedon's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

Joss Whedon has been shooting a movie called Much Ado About Nothing.  It was shot in black and white and done in only 12 days, on location in Santa Monica. With his new production company, called Bellwether Pictures, which is focused on the production of small, independent narratives for all media, embracing a DYI ethos.  (Thank you Dr. Horrible!)

We all know that Joss Whedon has been working on The Avengers, a movie many a fan can’t wait to see.  We also know that when he sets his mind to keeping something under wraps, he can do that too.  (Case in point… the plot to The Cabin in the Woods.  I have seen the behind-the-scenes outline, and I think Whedon fans will love this!)

But while he’s been working feverishly on The Avengers, at least I presume, that’s where all his time has been spent.  But now it seems that he’s been lurking about with something else in his back pocket.

A movie called Much Ado About Nothing.  It was shot in black and white and done in only 12 days, on location in Santa Monica.

The website for the film says it’s a film by Joss Whedon, based on a play.  LOL…

'The Avengers' movie promo poster

Below is the highly anticipated movie trailer for The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon. This trailer was being previewed by words and film snippets all weekend. Is it me or is it getting silly when previews are getting previews? But hey, fanboys were drooling, what can they say?

THE AVENGERS movie clip cap 01(Duck, cover and roll!!!)

It’s a nice collection of visuals to satisfy the imaginations of fans of The Avengers for now. We only see one bad guy, that’s Loki, played well by Tom Hiddleston.  And as much as I hate to say it, but the mass destruction down a street has been done before…  so I was a bit disappointed in seeing that, but I’m sure we won’t be seeing any large alien robots… I don’t think, in The Avengers.

This is a DVD review of Zorro The Complete Series is a 15-DVD set of the 1990 TV series.  It was released by A&E Home Video.  They were gracious enough to provide a copy of the DVD collection to Cinema Static on Brusimm sometime back and I finally found the time to spend some quality time with the package and spent an evening checking it out.

Zorro the complete seriesThe series stars Duncan Regehr as Don Deigo/Zorro, Patrice Martinez, James Victor and a few others throughout the entire run of Zorro.  In the first season, the foil for Zorro is played by Michael Tylo, and Don Diego’s father was played by Efrem Zimbalist Jr..

-

In this first episode, it would seem that Seniorita Escalante is set up for murder, to lure in Zorro into a trap.

In the 2nd episode Zorro protects his father from a scheming woman and her lover!

The 3rd, he protects the water rights of the people from the ever-always scheming Alcalde Ramone.

It’s the 9th episode of the the first season (disc 2), titled “The Legend Begins: Part 1,” that we are to learn of he chose to become Zorro.  He is shot and falls into a canyon.  While laying here wounded, he reminisces on his origin as a flashback.

Scarlett Johansson in IRON MAN 2For you Scarlett Johansson fans, let it be known that she’s asked for as much, aka, equal scrap time as the other male heroes in the upcoming Joss Whedon directed Marvel project, The Avengers.

Meaning she wants more fight scenes.  If you all recall, the Black Widow got into a great fight scene in Iron Man 2 and well, I’m betting there were some guys getting jealous of the bad guys being taken down by Scarlett Johansson, as she had to keep wrapping her legs around her victims necks.  (I say no more.)

(I was just rewatching Iron Man 2 the other night… did the Black Widow ever use her wrist stingers in the movie?)
