No spoilers in this front section of my Smallville recap and review:
It is here. The moment we’ve all been looking forward to and dreading, all at once. Through the highs and some of the lows, this is what it comes down to, the series finale of Smallville on The CW. The episode much heralded by many websites throughout the last few months.
This final episode of Smallville was 90% pretty damn good. The story took care of many of the open stories and we got to see many past characters/actors. We didn’t see Pete, (Sam Jones III) because ["In October 2009, he was arrested by the DEA on charges of drug trafficking, with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute." TMZ] His loss.
The story in this final episode was good enough to keep me from being sad that this was the last ever new episode of Smallville. The last twenty minutes had many recap images of the previous ten years and it was then I started realizing how sad I was becoming that this was it. No more upcoming scenes.
FROM HERE ON OUT, SPOILERS are in this Smallville recap and review:

The series finale of Smallville is airing tonight in a 2-hour finale on The CW that promises to be a very exciting television event for the fans. Despite some lows in story, there have also been some highs and through it all, we’ve stuck by the show. Having started with the series, watching it for so long, how can you not see it through?
Via Smallville, on The CW we’ve been introduced to the vision of a reimagined Superman originally conceived and brought to us by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Over the last 10 years we’ve been introduced to Tom Welling, Allison Mack, Kristen Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley and many many more.
By ‘introduced’ I mean brought to our attention, not necessarily first time to TV.
Yes, he runs for a phone booth too!
Tom Welling has become a producer and other cast have come to be a part of our awareness as we start to follow them in other ventures. The most popular of the cast could very well be Michael Rosenbaum.
Through the last ten years, we’ve cried for the series to break the rules of ‘no tights’ but we’ve come to learn they had other legal obligations they had to operate by. We’ve never seen Batman or Wonder Woman or The Flash, but we’ve seen other characters or representations of these characters in different ways.
This weeks’ episode of Smallville titled “Abandoned,” had a strong emotional familial message when Lois (Erica Durance) found and watched video tapes of her mother, Ella, who had died of cancer. Her mom was played by Teri Hatcher and to see the woman talking to her daugher across the years via video brought to light an aspect of life when people have lost their parents at an early age and live with at hole in their hearts. It was touching.
Lois was then sparked to help Clark (Tom Welling) touch base with his own digital father in the fortress of solitude. She ticked him off at first but then later it/the fortress/Jor-El played a message from his real parents to Clark, played by Julian Sands and Helen Slater.
Was Gordon Godfrey Darkseid or was that one of his minions?
In the Smallville episode titled “Supergirl,” Lois has returned from Africa and Kara is back! Though Kara (Laura Vandervoort) tries to teach Clark (Tom Welling) to fly, it doesn’t go too well. And with Kara having been “sent” to Earth to defeat this dark force, I fear this may get ugly. Though I have to admit, I don’t see Laura publicly scheduled for any more episodes of Smallville, so I’m not sure how this story angle will be carried out though for now, she seemed to have dispersed Godfrey.
Now despite one more excuse to put Lois (Erica Durance) in something skimpy, she is biting off more than she can chew when she tackles Gordon Godfrey, played by Michael Daingerfield.
When Clark confronted Godfrey, he could see right through Clark and all his weaknesses that Clark holds in his mind. He almost possesses Clark but Kara intervened.
The upcoming episode for Smallville is title “Supergirl” and Laura Vandervoort reprises her role of Kara. She’s back to help Clark with a thing or two. It will be nice to see Laura reprise her the role tha Kara that was cut too-short as far as I am concerned.
Here’s the synopsis for “Supergirl” from The CW
Clark (Tom Welling) is stunned when Kara (guest star Laura Vandervoort) returns to Earth and tells him Jor El sent her to stop the dark force that is coming because he doesn’t believe Clark can handle it. Meanwhile, Lois (Erica Durance) confronts Gordon Godfrey (guest star Michael Daingerfield), a shock jock radio DJ who has been crusading against heroes, after he threatens the Green Arrow (Justin Hartley). However, after Godfrey is possessed by the dark force, he takes Lois hostage and Clark and Kara have to come to her rescue. Mairzee Almas directed the episode written by Ann Cofell Saunders.
Last week’s season premiere of Smallville seemed to pick up where last season stopped and I felt it did a good job of keeping the pace as it tossed new premises and such at us, even if there seemed to be a few logic disconnects in the story… eh, so what?
This week, it seems that Oliver (Justin Hartley), as Green Arrow, breaks into a young lady’s place to get some info, but she doesn’t quite see it as a friendly visit. It’s pretty funny. The episode is titled “Shield.”
The 10th season premiere of Smallville opens with Clark falling off the building after banishing Zod, with the blue kryptonite knife sticking out of his chest. Clark (Tom Welling) hits the ground unconscious and while Lois is crying over him, he wakes up in a green field… in memory lane and then he finds himself talking to his dad, Jor-El. He then see’s an outline of what looks like Lex, then he wakes up after Lois (Erica Durance) pulls the knife out of his chest. When Clark comes to, Lois runs off and hides… not wanting him to know she knows his secret. What? A double-ended set of secrets?
Chloe (Allison Mack) is dealing with the disappearance of Oliver (Justin Hartley) when Clark shows up, but in a spate of illogical writing, Chloe says nothing about Oliver disappearing. Then later, in the usual, non-communicative mode she’s been in over the last season, she finds herself Dr. Doom’s helmet and dons it. (I know she’s not going to be on the show full time and I’m glad for it… I’m tired of the secretive mode she’s been in.)
Oliver is being beaten for information by a new bad guy. Anyone catch his name yet? I didn’t.
