Cowboys & Aliens Movie Review: So does Jon Favreau mixing up the old west with aliens work for a story? I think it worked out acceptably. But read on and find out what I have to say.

This morning when I got up, I was wondering if I should go hit up Cowboys & Aliens. I started looking at what the movie reviews around the net were saying. Earlier this week I saw movie reviews from folks who had seen the movie at Comic Con in an early screening. They seemed pretty rosey. But then I started seeing industry reviews of the movie and I was surprised how mediocre they were looking.
I decided to go anyway and I wasn’t disappointed.
Many moons ago I remember Cowboys & Aliens director Jon Favreau talking about how westerns are hard to pitch but that aliens are the hot commodity in film right now. If you want to make a western, add aliens.

Just thought I’d pass along the reminder that the series-finale of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse takes place on January 22nd, 2010. The final episodes leading up to this last day will be
- January 8th: “Getting Closer.”
- January 15th: “The Hollow Men.”
- The series finale on January 22nd: “Epitath Two: Return.” Felicia Day and Adair Tishler guest star.
It will be the end of a much tormented science fiction, fantasy TV series run that never quite caught on with the general viewing public.
I even had a feeling that despite the hard-core fan-base wanting Joss’s latest television effort to succeed, even some of us were hard pressed to really enjoy Dollhouse at times. Sometimes the show just dragged for me and at other times it hit on all 10 cylinders of its 8-cylinder engine. It just didn’t revv up enough to catch a foothold.
It didn’t help when viewers called it things like a show about trafficking.

Summer Glau as Cameron in Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles
If you’ve survived the first two episodes of Dollhouse and made it to the 3rd episode, which was actually written by a Dollhouse writer alum, Tim Minear, then you have some cool things coming up, as far as guests are concerned. (I’m guessing the article lead image might be giving it away.)
Here’s what we got for ya:
Summer Glau is reuniting with Joss Whedon as it’s being reported that she will be joining the cast of Dollhouse. Is that awesome news? I’m jazzed.

For the Keith Carradine fans out there, his next TV appearance (that I know of) will be on Starz’s Crash.
He will appear on the episodes airing on 10/23 & 10/30.
A quick rundown on his role is:
Peggy Lipton (featured in shows airing 10/23, 10/30, & 11/6) plays aging knockout Suzy Fields, the estranged ex-wife of former record producer Ben Cendars (Dennis Hopper). Suzy is now married to Ben’s close friend from years ago, Owen Fields who is played by Keith Carradine (featured in shows airing 10/23 & 10/30). Owen is a legendary counter-culture author. Ben tracks down Suzy and Owen at their ranch outside Los Angeles, where they still maintain their back-to-the-land ’60s lifestyle.
