law and order: svu

TV News

Cinema Static - TV News, Movie News and other Entertainment news and opinionCheck out some bits of TV news I dug up for the upcoming new seasons for Fringe, House, Law & Order: SVU and Storm Chasers:

-

Fringe‘s new season will kick it in gear in what I gather, will be the future from where it ended last season, when Peter didn’t seem to exist.  The whacky part though, is a quote or two from executive producer Jeff Pinker to TV Guide:

The future that we had seen in Fringe in past episodes, will now, not be the same.  Since past events are changed, that impacts the unfolding of future events.

Pinker also said the following:

“There will definitely be [flashback] episodes, but the past would be different as well because Peter wasn’t a part of it, but he would be in the future.”

-

Law & Order: SVU will be handling Chris Meloni‘s exit in an absentee fashion.  We will not be seeing Meloni in the upcoming new season of Law & Order: SVU in other words.

Instead, season 13 of L&O: SVU will be starting up with Stabler on adminstrative leave and Olivia will be figuring out how to do things on her own.

Christopher Meloni

.

When the last contract negotiations took a long time for Christopher Meloni and the Law & Order: SVU drama, I had my worries and they were two-fold.  First, if they’re bartering this hard this time, what will happen next time? My other worry as the eye an actor might keep on pricing themselves out of a series.

I’m for asking for pay-raises, but if my forcing the issue will get me “let go,” I’d think twice.

In this case, for Meloni, he wanted what he wanted and NBC couldn’t pony up. With that in mind, we will not be seeing Meloni in the 13th season of Law & Order:SVU. He’s out.

I wonder how that is going to pan out… Hargity renewed her contract but with the clause of less of a workload demand while rumors (which is what I take them at) on the street were that NBC was looking at Jennifer Love Hewitt to come on-board.

What’s Up WIth Tron 3 Story Plans?

In a quick bit over on AssignmentX.com, they chatted up director Joseph Kosinski in a chat and drug in some questions about Tron 3, aka TR3N.

Kosinski said they’re working on the Tron 3 story right now and his premise for the moment, looks like they’re looking to pick up where the last film, Tron Legacy, left off. That’s with Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) and Quorra (Olivia Wilde) being in the real world.

Of course this is Kosinski talking. He’s not been hired yet to be the director and says he’ll see how his schedule is when the time comes that he might be asked to direct.

So we shall see.

Naveen Andrews, who of late is best known for his role as Sayid Jarrah on Lost, has been cast in a single episode guest role on Law & Order: SVU.

With this news, eyebrows went up wondering if he’s cast in another show, even for one episode, what’s up with his role on Lost?

Everyone who could answer is mum on the issue and more than likely, they might make use of airliners to shuttle the busy actor back and forth, if needed to.

The role he’s playing in Law & Order: SVU has not been divulged, but the episode of SVU will air in January 2010.
