Henry Cavill as Superman in 'Man of Steel'

The newest Superman movie coming to theaters on June 14 2013, is titled Man of Steel.  It stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent.  Others include Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Michael Shannon as General Zod.

Sure, we’ve seen other Superman movies.  They’ve been… cute.  Nothing too mind bending and worthy of forgetting.  (Except, that John Williams thematic music from the Christopher Reeve Superman is a piece that has stuck with me after all these years.)

But if you are starting to gauge this upcoming Superman movie from your previous experiences, I’d fully suggest leaving your preconceptions at the door to the theater.  I have a sneaky suspicion that Man of Steel will be an epic success of the franchise.

Why?

It’s directed by Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch, Watchmen, 300), but his creative vision is guided by producers Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight movies, Inception, The Prestige) and wife Emma Thomas.

The moment I heard that Snyder was directing, I knew we’d be in for a visual treat.  To hear that Nolan is producing shoved Man of Steel to front of my movies to look forward to.  And this first full movie trailer itself, feels pretty epic on stature.
