New Movies at the movie theater from Cinema Static 2011 logo 475w lq

New movies coming out this Friday, Sept 23rd, to your local movie theater include Brad Pitt as baseball manager; Jason Statham doing action as only he can, as an elite special forces kind of character.  There’s also a new Chris Evans movie in the collection of new movies coming out.

A once look-over, there are some fun popcorn movie options…  but I think Taylor Lautner‘s film will probably reign supreme over the new films only because of his fan base from the Twilight movies.  (They are a force to be reckoned with.)  As to whether they can topple Disney’s The Lion King from it’s new, re-released throne is something to ponder though.

Check out this Friday’s upcoming movies and their movie trailers:

-

•      Moneyball

From Columbia Pictures, Moneyball is about Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane’s and how he took the road less traveled to put together a baseball club based on computer-generated analysis.

It’s directed by Bennett Miller (Capote) and stars Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright and Christ Pratt.

It’s directed by first-time major film director Gary McKendry and stars Jason Statham, Clive Owen, Robert De Niro, Dominic Purcell, Aden Young and Yvonne Strahovski (from NBC’s Chuck).

NBC Universal logoWhat awesome news for Parenthood fans… While NBC has ordered a few new shows, (Awake, Playboy Club, Grimm) they’ve left room to renew a few good solid standbys.

The shows renewed are Parenthood and Harry’s Law. Both great solid entertainment venues.

What I’m extremely curious and looking forward to is the show called Awake.

Formerly known as REM, Awake is about a detective, played by Jason Isaacs. After an accident, his life is split into two different realities. In one reality, his wife survives the accident while his son dies. In the other reality, his son survives.

The real catch is that these realities are hard to define. Which one is real and which one isn’t. He goes to sleep in one, there he is in a different one. Other things are also a bit different in the two realities. It really does sound interesting to me and I look forward to it.

It’s written by Kyle Killen and exec produced by Howard Gordon (24).
