This is a movie review of The Ides of March, and in a word, this movie is worth catching, no matter how you get to it.
The Ides of March has a running time of 101 minutes, is rated R. The cast includes Ryan Gosling, George Clooney, Philip Seymore Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Evan Rachel Wood and a role where Marisa Tomei is not getting naked or acting silly! It’s directed by George Clooney, who also co-wrote the screenplay.
The Ides of March is centered around Stephen Meyers, played by Ryan Gosling, who starts out as an idealistic political party staffer. He’s a staffer for Governmor Mike Morris, played by George Clooney. Meyers staff boss is Paul Zara, played by Hoffman.
This week, this Friday, October 7th, 2011, the new movies this week coming to your local movie theaters include stars Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand, Ryan Gosling, George Clooney, Juno Temple, Jackie Chan, a few Sheens, Michael Fassbender, Clive Owen and a few more.
Will any of these movies contend with the box office entrenched movies right now? Maybe.
First up,
Real Steel
Starring Hugh Jackman, Dakota Goyo, Evangeline Lilly, Anthony Mackie and Kevin Durand, in a film about the near future where robots take over the heavy duty roles of boxing. This puts real boxers like Kenton (Jackman) in the back seat of the sport until he finds a robot he helps train.
It’s directed by Shawn Levy, who has brought us such hits as Date Night, Night at the Museum franchise, the latest Pink Panther film franchise. But limited to very few action films. On the other hand, he has 19 other projects in the pipe. Someone is liking what this man is capable of, so I’m holding my breath tentatively on what he has done with Real Steel.
The movie is pitched as a father-son exploratory journey and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
[UPDATE 10/5/11: I can't vouch for the review, but EW.com's movie review of Real Steel an 'A-.' ]
To be honest, looking at some private metrics I use, this movie may do OK at the box office! I see some anticipation for this Rock’em Sock’em Robot movie. Check out the movie trailer:

The Ides of March
Starring Ryan Gosling, George Clooney, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Evan Rachel Wood & Marisa Tomei in a movie based on a play by Beau Willimon, it’s about an idealistic staffer for a presidential candidate who gets a crash course on dirty politics. (Oh, like life itself!)
The movie is directed, co-written & co-produced by George Clooney. And that doesn’t worry me a bit. His directorial and producing experience includes The American, Up in the Air, & Leatherheads. Though amongst his films, he does have some dry hits (IE, I had a hard time with..) like The Men Who Stare at Goats, The Informant! and such.
But I must say, the movie trailer for this Columbia Pictures release looks interesting:
I finally found the opportunity to watch The Wrestler, starring Mickey Rourke. Sometimes, I just don’t quite get to things as fast as I can and this is one of those fine examples! I wish I had seen this sooner, because watching it inspired me to scribble up a quick movie review and had I [...]
