X-Men Apocalypse reviewX-Men Apocalypse continues the saga of the rebooted Marvel property of the X-Men film franchise from Fox, but to be honest, if they’re going to reboot a film franchise, they need to make it better than the first version they’re trying to wipe the slate clean of! But more to the point, it’s more of an action flick than any kind of story about the characters.

Apocalypse is directed by Bryan Singer off a screenplay written by both himself and Simon Kinberg, who as a team, have been heralding in this new rebooted version of the Marvel franchise.

The cast includes

James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse,  Rose Byrne, Evan Peters returns as Quicksilver, we have a new Col Stryker, played by Josh Helman, Sophie Turner is Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan, Lucas Till, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Ben Hardy, Alexandra Shipp as Storm and Olivia Munn Psylocke.

X-Men Films on Amazon

When the film opens, well, to be honest, the first two acts felt like the slowest story opening ever conceived on film, it established the backstory of Apocalypse, and touched on past events from the first reboot film.

Very little of the story focused on the stories of the characters. We saw Erik Lehnsherr (Fassbender) in his life of normalcy that turns to his personal hell which drives him back into his Magneto persona.

We touched briefly on what makes Raven, Hank McCoy and a few others tick and I swear, if we had not seen Rose Byrne in the first film, well…

Legion TV Review

Legion is based on the Marvel Comic title by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz. It’s the story of Scott Young (Dan Stevens), a troubled but very special young man. In his youth he was diagnosed as schizophrenic and finds himself in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years.

Now in his 20’s and finding himself under the gun of some investigative team from his present psych ward, he meets a new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller).

After meeting her, David faces the possibility that the voices he used to hear and the visions he had may actually be real.

That’s generally the description distributed to describe the show, but the pilot episode was something else altogether different.

The pilot episode feels more like a psychadelic head trip as we’re shown images from his youth, present time scenes, laced with more flashbacks of a recent time line.

No Upcoming HULK Stand-Alone Movie

December 23, 2015

For me, the quick bottom line to this question is that Hulk, alone, does not pull in (enough) money. It’s like watching a giant three-year-old have a tantrum. But cooler because he can throw very big things at people. And up until Hulk played Raggedy Andy with Loki and sucker punched Thor, not too many […]

December 26, 2012

There’s a recent story development going on in the Marvel Comic universe where the writer of the story is getting death threats.
