Brusimm Cinema Static TV NewsThis upcoming 2011 Thanksgiving holiday weekend, we have a few things going on around the house, much like I suspect you do.  If you’re going to be taking it easy and just hanging out around your home, whether it’s quietly stashed away, or with loved ones, your TV is going to be staring at you… calling your name, saying ‘watch me,’ I have all kinds of TV series marathons or movie marathons going on.

I see The Walking Dead, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Battlestar Galactica, NCIS, & a Firefly* marathon…  (*If you get Science Channel)

So if you pick up that remote and fire it off at your TV, here are a few things coming up for the Thanksgiving weekend… a TV marathon or two, so to speak.

And folks…  to anyone coming by, whether you’re popping in once or a repeat offender (visitor) checking out this post, I want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who comes by and visits my tiny little corner of the web.

Happy Thanksgiving and bless all of you and yours…

Now, back to my regularly scheduled snark and stuff…

This is a guest-post movie review from Jennifer, who, after hitting up the movie theater with her kids, was gracious enough to send me her perspective on Dolphin Tale! (Yes, I accept decently written items from site visitors, if so inclined!)

Dolphin Tale cast includes Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble, Kris Kristofferson, Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Morgan Freeman.  It was directed by actor/director Charles Martin Smith (Stone of Destiny, The Snow Walker).  (And Winter is played by Winter!)

Jen’s Movie Review

Dolphin Tale is based on the true story of Winter, a dolphin who was rescued off a beach in Clearwater, Florida, whose tail had to be removed after it had been caught in a crab trap.

New Movies at the movie theater from Cinema Static 2011 logo 475w lq

New movies coming out this Friday, Sept 23rd, to your local movie theater include Brad Pitt as baseball manager; Jason Statham doing action as only he can, as an elite special forces kind of character.  There’s also a new Chris Evans movie in the collection of new movies coming out.

A once look-over, there are some fun popcorn movie options…  but I think Taylor Lautner‘s film will probably reign supreme over the new films only because of his fan base from the Twilight movies.  (They are a force to be reckoned with.)  As to whether they can topple Disney’s The Lion King from it’s new, re-released throne is something to ponder though.

Check out this Friday’s upcoming movies and their movie trailers:

-

•      Moneyball

From Columbia Pictures, Moneyball is about Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane’s and how he took the road less traveled to put together a baseball club based on computer-generated analysis.

It’s directed by Bennett Miller (Capote) and stars Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright and Christ Pratt.

•      Killer Elite

From Open Road Films, Killer Elite follows a retired Elite Special Air Service man whose mentor is kidnapped.  To save his mentor, he must go in and kill three assassins.

It’s directed by first-time major film director Gary McKendry and stars Jason Statham, Clive Owen, Robert De Niro, Dominic Purcell, Aden Young and Yvonne Strahovski (from NBC’s Chuck).

REDs FrankRED is called an action comedy and stars Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban & Morgan Freeman.

RED (Retried & Extremely Dangerous) is written by Jon & Erich Hoeber (Whiteout) and directed by Robert Schwentke (The Time Traverler’s Wife).

The movie starts out watching Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) going through his daily, boring routine. You can feel the doldrums dripping from his routine, but it is what he does.  And how boring it must be, seeing as how he’s a retired black-ops agent. Retired? Sorry, no one retires from black-ops, just goes dark and off-mission.

But his life is so boring that he tears up his retirement checks and calls the company to be able to talk to a certain operator… Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker). They’ve developed a sort of relationship from all their phone conversations.

REDs Frank

I’ve been looking around the web trying to decide about headed out to see Red starring Bruce Willis.  Almost everyone to a tee has given Red a tentative thumbs up.  For an action/comedy movie, it has it’s high points but the middle plot seems to kill the flow and the pace of the humor.

As an action flick, it might have a wee bit too much action but still, a comedic action flick with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich & Helen Mirren.  Never mind the quick cameos by Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfuss and Ernest Borgnine.

If you go in looking for a fun action flick, I presume it will be just what you expect.

Red, Starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and others, Red is about a former black-ops agent, Frank Moses, makes a last ditch effort to reassemble his old team when his idyllic life is threatened by a high-tech assassin. It’s directed by Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveler’s Wife [< awesome movie]) and written by Jon Hoeber (Whiteout).
