In what looks like a unprecedented move by a movie studio, a whole bunch of promo art movie stills have been released, related to Robert Rodriguez’s Predators. They look totally bad-ass and builds up some hope! Yet I’m also worried why they felt compelled to release so many promo images from Predators?
Predators, Directed by Nimrod Antal and produced by Robert Rodriguez, has a new and revamped website up and running. It offers video previews and can be a busy site, as in bandwidth busy. This is not a dial-up friendly page as my CPU cycles were tacked out while I was on the site.
As you hit up the site, you’re presented with a preview clip, with the option to charge on into the site.
Once past the preview, you’re presented with a rotating background home page and a menu in the upper left portion of the screen. The menu, chosen by your new mouse cursor, in the shape of a shoulder-mounted-predator-cannon-tridot laser tag, gives you options to choose from:
The following Predators movie trailer is a nice angle where we actually get a bit of a specific character focus from the story. In this case, it’s Royce, who is played by Adrien Brody. Royce is the chosen leader of a ragtag group of murderers and killers who have been brought to the home-planet of my favorite, management role-model, Predator.
The scene from the Predators movie pictured above that got me thinking about the script that Rodriguez had for this movie.
Back in 1996 Robert Rodriguez had written a script with the idea of another movie but the reception to the Predators franchise wasn’t warm and fuzzy enough to warrant any studio dropping the funds on his idea.
That script had been rumored to make its way onto the internet (My god, how does everything get on the internet?)
I can’t imagine that the script from ’96 stayed intact at all, but on the off chance that there are elements to the new 2010 Predators movie, I’m going to make my standard warning of potential SPOILERS ahead.
Armored opened this weekend, starring Matt Dillon, Jean Reno, Laurence Fishburne and others.
I’ve been hearing good things about this Armored, directed by Nimród Antal. (Whose slated to direct the new Predators movie. This bodes well for Predators!)
Yes, the Predator franchise is getting a reboot or redo of update called Predators. Yes, everything is getting a reboot these days.
Why? It’s all about the marketing. They know the franchises that were popular with middle agers or pre-middle agers will get their attention and since it nailed their attention span back then, it may get the younger generations attention span again, too. They’re nailing two demographics in one shot. Basic marketing 101.
But enough about that noise.
First off Robert Rodriguez is producing this rehash of one of my all time favorite movie characters. That’s fine. I’ve never hated anything he’s done.
Then the news was that the writer snagged for the project was Alex Litvak. Rodriguez is having him work over a spec script he (Rodriguez) wrote 15 years ago on the premise of Predator.
Later on I picked up on the noise that a 2nd screenplay writer came on board, a Michael Finch.
