Fall TV Season News

A guest post by Lola Castro

The New Year is fast approaching and with it, the much-anticipated return of such favorites as “Community” and “Pretty Little Liars.” But the spectacle of returning shows may be dwarfed by the anticipation related to several much-hyped premieres in the works. Promising shows on the roster include everything from a “Chicago Fire” spin-off to an LGBT-friendly comedy, leaving plenty of viewing opportunities open for every conceivable demographic. Dedicated television viewers can expect an entertaining start to 2014.

Between “Girls,” “Walking Dead” and “Game of Thrones,” HBO currently boasts some of the best programs on television. The subscription network plans to add a hilarious comedy to this impressive lineup with the debut of “Looking” on January 19. The show focuses on bringing a humorous slant to common issues in the LGBT community, thus making it what the Huffington Post terms as “the next great gay TV series.” But unlike “Modern Family,” which examines life in a relatively stable household headed by two gay men, “Looking” shifts the narrative to dating as an LGBT single in a digital world.

Winter Olympics

Ditch the TV dramas and comedies and tune in to NBC, where the ultimate arena for athletic prowess will be on display. The 2014 Winter Olympics, held in Sochi, Russia, will take place between February 7 and 23. According to “CBS Sports,” the performance from U.S. athletes will be impressive, with a talented pool of contenders proving particularly promising for Team USA hockey. Coverage of the 22nd Winter Olympics will primarily take place on NBC, although plenty of commentary will be available on alternative channels. Before this year’s winter games air, take some time to learn about TV bundles so you can enjoy both the Olympics and expert feedback on everything that happens at the games.

NBC’s Olympic Tape Delay Ticks The U.S. Off – U.S. Skating Coverage

February 18, 2010

Over the last few days, I’ve been hearing noise from Twitter and the Internet in general about the tape delays that NBC has evoked on the viewer. It makes sense.  Keep the viewers trapped to the specific time frame so they can claim ratings victories over prime time.  They really need that, what with the […]
