person of interest

Brusimm Cinema Static TV NewsThe 2011/2012 Fall TV season is slowly coming to a close and I’ve got some season finale dates for everyone, if you want to prepare for it and start setting DVRs now… just to get ahead of the game and all…

A few notes that caught my eye while compiling this list

CastleTahmoh Penikett guests on the finale and supposedly, all the emotional cards between the two love-torn birds will be put on the table.  … again.  I wonder when the showrunners will figure out we’re getting tired of that tease at the end of every season?

Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore and Dallas Clark in 'Criminal Minds'

Criminal Minds: Tricia Helfer guests on this season finale.  She’ll be an evil person.

CSI: Jaclyn Smith returns in her role as Hodges’ mother.

Seth Gabel and Anna Torv in 'Fringe'

The Fringe showrunners have shot two endings, just in case this isn’t a season finale, but a series finale.  Gads… everyone, buy more TV’s and tune them all in!!!!  (OK, that was only a joke.  That won’t help.

Grimm:  Prepare yourself… Grimm will be ending on a cliff hanger…  Gads, I seriously hate season-ending cliffhangers.

House Series Finale:  In the series ending episode, Olivia Wilde and Kal Penn reprise their roles.  (Raise your hand if you’ve been as disappointed as I’ve been with Wilde’s movie roles.  I’ve come to expect an intelligent woman out of Wilde from her role as Thirteen, but her movie roles seem to fall short of that.  It’s my own bad for setting myself up with a mis-guided expectation.

Missing:  I’m sorry… I haven’t caught this show yet or may never.  Every single promo I see for it, “mom” has this seriously angry look on her face and this marketing does not call out to me.  For all I know, I’m missing a serious, kick-ass series.

Modern Family:  No cliffhanger this season.

The Secret Circle: Talk of the season finale seems to be worded around the word “conclusion,” though I’m not seeing any news immediately on the show’s return or not.

Person of Interest is about a man named Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) who invented a machine that can track people and determine when a crime will occur.  Finch employs an ex-CIA agent, John Reese (Jim Caviezel), to carry out most of the physical labor involved in preventing these crimes.  While Finch and Reese do their thing, they catch the attention of Detectives Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman) & Joss Carter (Taraji P. Henson).

As the Person of Interest story progressed for our primary characters, so too did the relationship with the detectives.

Kevin Chapman who plays Det. Fusco was gracious enough to take a few minutes to chat with me and who I encountered on the other side of my questions was a very well-grounded, down to earth kind of person.  A man who has gratitude for the great career and opportunities that have been given him.

The Interview with Kevin Chapman

(Sean Penn and Kevin Chapman in Mystic River)

Kevin has a great developing career in the entertainment industry.  He’s been a part of 20+ TV projects and roles in close to 30 different movies.

-

I asked Kevin about Detective Fusco’s initial unwillingness being a helper in the scheme of things, and where that might go.  He confirmed that

Initially Fusco was unwilling in the beginning, but as time progressed he saw the good that Finch and Reese were doing and Lionel becomes a willing participant.

-

I asked how he likes working with other primary cast members and if he had any juicy cast gossip.  I could not pry any inside scoops out of Kevin, but he made note that both Michael Emerson and Jim Caviezel are great to work with and that he previously worked with Jim Caviezel on the 2006 movie, Unknown.

This is the first project he’s worked on with Emerson.  He doesn’t spend an inordinate amount of time shooting with the leads, but he does spend a lot of time on set with Taraji P. Henson, who plays Det. Carter.  Believe it or not, underneath that serious looking facade we see in Detective Carter, Kevin said,

She is really an actress with a bubbly personality.  I like to make her laugh because she has an infectious laugh.

Who’d a thunk!?
