Sometimes when you watch a movie or television show you never notice the soundtrack in the background. Sometimes you do and that can be a good or a bad thing.
But when you find yourself pulled along in a plot because of the music, it’s possible you were listening to something put together by John Debney, a very sought after composer in the industry.
Oscar nominated and 18 other industry awards for his work, his ability to span different genres has been called flawless.
IMDb says he’s most known for his work in Sin City, Star Trek: The Next Generation & Iron Man 2. Check out a short list of movies with some of his other work:
While we have The Losers, Cop Out & The Runaways hitting the DVD shelves this week, (DVD Releases for July 20th, 2010) we have something for the Angelina Jolie fan this week in theaters, titled Salt. The only other opening movie this Friday, July 23rd, is called Ramona and Beezus.
If you’ve seen last week’s blockbuster, Inception, you were part of the masses that helped it gross over $60 million on its opening weekend. It’s a deserving movie, that’s for sure. Here’s my short and to-the-point non-spoiler movie review of Inception if you’re interested. Following Inception, Despicable Me brought in $37 million, while The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, that didn’t track that well for the studios prior to opening, only brought in $17 million this weekend.
Cinema Static Reviews Predators: Predators does not disapoint the franchise at all and I don’t think any fan of the franchise will be disappointed. Check out my movie review below, and it’s with minimal, if any spoilers:

I too have been checking out the movie reviews of Predators and I went into the theater not too worried, but with just enough reservation to protect my fragile state of “Fan’s-Mind!”
First and foremost, Predators is a sequel and not a reboot. That is made clear to us and that made the experience that much better knowing they were extending the franchise and not restarting it. (I’m getting tired of reboots. Move the story on people!) Second, I’ve seen reviews noting the gore in the movie. I’m not a fan of gore, but the gore was done well. The movie was finally given an “R” rating for “strong creature violence and gore, and pervasive language.” OK, there is some language. We do tend to cuss when under the gun… or shoulder blaster. Sure, the creatures were causing the violence. That’s expected. But the gore, to me, wasn’t fountains of blood spurting gore, though there are moments! I’d put it on par with the first Predator movie. Maybe a tick more but not by much.
The first Predatorsmovie reviews are out on the web and with them being the first, I thought I’d pass on the reflections they’ve had in their reviews of Robert Rodriguez’s Predators.
After looking them all over, I’ve not been deterred from seeing it and it’s possible I won’t be disappointed!
And they are all wonderfully, spoiler free! If so inclined, check out my own Predators Movie Review that I just put up! [7-9-10] It’s spoiler-free!

Over at Den of Geek, the Predators review is written by Ryan Lambie and it sounds like Predators is promising but not phenomenal as I was hoping.
His take was that the film was all too familiar in how it felt like sometimes you were watching updated scenes from the 1987 classic, but it was good enough to wipe our minds of the AVP aura that was left behind. (For the record, I thought the first AVP was fun. It brought two classics together and forced them to face off, much like the comic book has been doing for years.)
Ryan gives it a 3 out of 5 stars.
For more details of what would seem to be a complete, non-spoiler review with descriptive prose worthy of the best poet, check out Ryan’s [review of Predators]
This week for opening movies, we finally get to see what I think are two fun, anticipated films for the summer. Robert Rodriguez’s Predators & Despicable Me. A quiet film that has been smothered by all the hype from these previous mentioned movies, is The Kids Are All Right.

Do I even need to note the movie summary? Sure, what the heck: A group of elite warriors are hunted by members of a merciless alien race known as Predators.
Predators stars Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo, et al.
June 29th saw the latest Predators movie trailer come out. This is cool, but as always, is giving away a bit more of the film. My suspicion is it’s removing yet more surprise or suspense from these moments, but for those of you who wish to absorb the trailers, here ye be. (Me, I’m closing my eyes and looking away while I type and embed! OK, that might make it a bit difficult!)
Last time, I showed you some promo art from the new Predators movie, focusing on the new monsters. Creepy cool and promising. That’s what I saw. But I was negligent in having the actors represented. Sorry, I’m all about Predator… total hero of mine.
In what looks like a unprecedented move by a movie studio, a whole bunch of promo art movie stills have been released, related to Robert Rodriguez’s Predators. They look totally bad-ass and builds up some hope! Yet I’m also worried why they felt compelled to release so many promo images from Predators?
