The website, at the time of this article, is dedicated with all info pulled from the site and a note that a statement will be released later today. (Saturday)
Whether you liked or hated his methods, he was an instrumental force to be reckoned with, within the halls of the NFL. He was a man who didn’t care what anyone thought about his methods, but he got the job done.
Raiders fans will mourn this loss, as ESPN is noting that Al Davis had been experiencing failing health over the last several days.
Team ownership will initially go to his son, Mark.
Andy Whitfieldlost his battle to non-Hodgkin Lymphoma recently. Fans of Andy Whitfield and his latest project, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, were very sad to receive this news.
Starz has shown a pleasantly abnormal amount of support for Andy Whitfield and fans are appreciating it.
For those who are able to subscribe to Starz, you’ll be pleased to know that Starz will be paying a short tribute to the man by airing five of his best episodes of Spartacus: Blood and Sand on October 2nd.
They will then be playing the entire season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand on December 16th, 2011.
After the break, a quote from the network and tribute video:
In horribly sad news today (9-11-11), 39-year-old Andy Whitfield died today, losing his battle to non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. he passed away in Sydney, Australia.
A statement released today by his wife, Vashti, said he was a “beautiful young warrior” who died on a “sunny morning” in the “arms of his loving wife.”
A reader left me a message asking about a closing credit in the latest NCIS episode that indicated “In Memory of Julio Villamariona Garcia.”
Julio Villamariona Garcia was a security guard on the set of the NCIS. Mr. Garcia was hit by a production vehicle and killed outside a vacant building that he was watching over. This building was, from what I can tell, to be a staging area.
Mr. Garcia was hit by a vehicle driven by a Ralph Blunt. He apparently lost control when an unspecified medical condition kicked in. He hit Mr. Garcia and a few other parked cars.
In a statement thе producers οf NCIS ѕаіԁ:
“AƖƖ аt thе network, thе studio аnԁ NCIS іѕ devastated bу thе news. Oυr hearts grieve fοr hіѕ family аnԁ friends fοr thіѕ tragic loss. Wе аrе, οf course, cooperating wіth thе community authorities іn Santa Clarita tο hеƖр determine whаt caused thіѕ tеrrіbƖе accident.” Anԁ added “Wіth profound sympathy wе grieve thе tragic passing οf ουr co-worker аnԁ friend. ‘NCIS’ іѕ a family. Anԁ, аѕ wіth аnу family, wе аrе deeply saddened bу thіѕ unexpected loss. Oυr thουɡhtѕ аnԁ prayers ɡο out tο hіѕ Ɩονеԁ ones.”
A shocking development indeed, is that police discovered Perry Moore, the executive producer of The Chronicles of Narnia film franchise, dead.
He was found by his partner, a Mr. Hill and right now there are sources who seem to know before an autopsy has been conducted, that he may have passed away from an overdose of OxyContin.
Truly, sad news indeed.
If this rumor about the overdose is true, all I can say is how sick I am of seeing talent being destroyed by events like this.
Sad news in the entertainment industry tonight: Stephen J. Cannell has died in his home Thursday (9/30/10) in Pasadena, CA from complications from melanoma. He was 69.
Stephen J. Cannell brought some long lasting TV series to the tube over the years and was slated to produce the newest remake movie in the industry, 21 Jump Street.
He was a story editor on the 1972 series, Adam-12. He produced Toma back in 1974, or one of my favorites, Black Sheep Squadron starring Robert Conrad. There was Baretta (1978), The Rockford Files (1979), The Greatest American Hero (1983), Hunter (1985), The A-Team (1983), The Commish (1995) and the list just goes on… it’s incredible what he contributed as a producer to our television entertainment through the years.
Or maybe you caught him in his last TV movie role appearance as Frank Stone on the Syfy Channel‘s in 2006 Ice Spiders!? Remember he ended up driving the bus around with the kids in it?
So many people have been entertained from his work that he has literally touched millions upon millions of people’s lives. Can you remember that signature sign-off logo at the end of his shows where he’d rip the paper from the typewriter and the piece of paper would fly at us on the screen to form his logo?
It’s a sad day indeed to see his passing away and our condolences and thoughts are with his family, friends and peers in this sad time.
It’s with a saddened heart that I must report that Andy Whitfield‘s cancer has returned. The return of the disease has prompted Andy’s doctors to suggest an aggressive treatment.
As such, Andy Whitfield is again stepping aside from the production of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, which again, puts the production of Spartacus in a state of limbo.
As Starz put it, they’ll be addressing their production plans at a later date.
Everyone, please, keep Andy in your thoughts and your prayers. If you feel so compelled, here’s a link to the National Cancer Institute’s page of links to Cancer Fund-Raising Organizations. It’s time we need to step up and squash this nasty beast NOW. Too many friends, loved ones and peers are taken by this thing every day.
After the page break is the press release from Starz Entertainment:
Martin Short‘s wife, actress Nancy Dollman, pass away last Saturday (Aug 21) in Pacific Pallisades. Paramedics were called but no cause of her passing had been released at the time.
On August 11th, 2010, Marc Boland died while riding his Harley motorcycle. Marc was the heart and soul behind the auto racing blog called Full Throttle.
We’ve all shared links with him and I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with him on and off over the last few years. He was always willing to chat with anyone and had a pretty level headed approach to his reflections on issues. He was a one-man show behind his website and it was a pleasure to have known him, though I dind’t know him that well.
Right now, his site sits there, the last entry looks like it was from August 9th… header images eerily rotating on their own, in memory of his work. His last tweet on August 10th. I guess he was taking a day off on the 11th. I’m very sad from knowing this.
It is never a good thing when participants in any motor sports event gets injured in an accident. It’s even more tragic when spectators get injured or worse in any sporting event.
In an off-road racing event called the California 200, located in Lucerne Valley, California, a truck competing in the event rolled over and off the course, hitting spectators. The accident killed eight fans, injuring 12 others. The tragedy required 7 ambulances, 9 fire engines and 10 rescue crews.
The race event is known for the crowds watching the event from locations that are right next to the race course. My thoughts are with those involved in this moment of tragedy in the auto-racing industry.
