Law & Order: Los Angeles
-
I remember when Law & Order was pulled before setting a TV record and that it seemed it was killed off in favor of a new spin-off, Law & Order: Los Angeles. But when I tuned into the premiere of Law & Order: Los Angeles, it was weird to see how they were making a huge deal about the Hollywood aspect of the Los Angeles region. It wasn’t very real, it was too glitzy, too weird. I haven’t tuned in since, even though I’ve been accused of being a Skeet Ulrich fan.

Now the latest news coming from the production of LOLA is that some cast have departed the show… Regina Hall, Megan Boone and Skeep Ulrich.
I can’t tell if it is a mass exodus or studio-backed reorganization but for the Skeet Ulrich fan this is yet another sad moment in the appreciation of the man’s work.
We’ll manage until his next show, but dang, this is a disappointment!

TV Ratings Info
.
I was wondering how No Ordinary Family did in the TV ratings department with their series & season premiere and for the moment, this smart superhero genre series pulled in an amazing set of numbers:
By the end of the episode they were well over 12 million estimated viewers having tuned in! I think in part, because of the cast, that includes Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz and maybe even Stephen Collins. Regardless, it did just fine and if the story doesn’t have too many weak plot points, may do well in the long. Check out my Review of No Ordinary Family and see what I had to say about it.

Stargate Universe Ratings
-
Stargate Universe returned with a smart episode that could land it some new fans and at least kept this long-time fan interested enough to forget just how far off the beaten Stargate path they’ve come with this series.
The season premiere of SGU pulled in just over 1.1 million viewers.

I’ve been wondering what Skeet Ulrich has been up to since his excellent appearance on CSI:NY as a murderous madman… and guess what? I found out! Skeet Ulrich will be starring in the upcoming new spinoff legal procedural, Law & Order: Los Angeles. I’m sure you guys already know this, but if anyone out there is like me and was pondering the idea of boycotting the new show… well, here’s some news to ruin your plans!
Ulrich will be playing detective Rex Winters, along with Corey Stoll who plays detective Tomas “TJ” Jarusalski, both members of the Los Angeles Police Department’s elite Robbery Homicide Division.
Their district attorney, who is a sarcastic realist will be played by Alfred Molina. (I really like sarcastic realists.)
Terrence Howard has also joined the cast, plus we’ll see Wanda De Jesus, Regina Hall, Supernatural’s own Jim Beaver as Frank Loomis, Oded Fehr who is no longer guarding mummy secrets, Danielle Panabaker and bunches more.

Jericho fans are always keeping an eye out for news of a possible movie coming our way. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but not yet folks. During a chat with FEARnet, Jon Turteltaub said the following about a Jericho movie*:
- A graphic novel has been released
- Working with CBS Films on a film version
- A script is being written.
-

The graphic novel is called Jericho Season 3: Civil War. Three issues have come out to date. Jericho #1 hit the newsstands back on the 25th of November, 2009. The latest in March of 2010.

I just got done watching Jericho, which has been airing on the Syfy Channel all day.

I’ve watched the last few episodes of this really fine show and it’s a shame that it couldn’t have been carried or supported properly by CBS. They’ve got themselves some serious ratings stompers so I understand why this didn’t stick with the show, but dang, this is some well written story.
Jericho ran for 2 seasons from from 2006 to 2008, with a slight interruption because it was canceled after the first season, despite drawing in an average of 9+ million viewers. A raging fan campaign got it a 2nd season. But the 2nd season wasn’t really that well supported by CBS and it floundered with a mere 6+ million average of viewers.

Fandango has a list of what’s coming out for movies this year. Let’s see what we got for new movie releases for the rest of 2009!
This weekend, we had Twilight Saga: New Moon, Planet 51 & The Blind Side open.
On November 25th, The Road, The Princess and the Frog, Ninja Assassin & Old Dogs grace the big silver screen. The Princess and the Frog is outside my range of genre expertise, but the other 3 movies look interesting to me.
On December 4th, we have George Clooney in Up in the Air which is accompanying Armored & Brothers.
December 11th brings what looks like a depressingly brilliant approach to telling a story in The Lovely Bones & Invictus to the theaters.
December 18th is a big, big day if you’re looking forward to Avatar because that’s when the James Cameron helmed Avatar comes to the screens. The Cinema Static gang can’t wait. In case you’re wondering, a Hugh Grant starrer called Did You Hear About the Morgans? is coming out on December 18th also.

I was just watching the episode of CSI: NY that guest starred Skeet Ulrich (Jericho, Scream, Armored).
Ulrich is playing an incredibly intelligent yet disturbed killer… (Is there any other kind?) who has the CSI staff scattering all over New York chasing clues he leaves behind.
It’s been said this character he plays reminds folks of an earlier role of his in Scream.
If you missed it, don’t worry – his character keeps the CSI’s busy for 3 episodes… He played it well last night. I can only imagine what the next 2 epi’s will be like.
They’ve also re-introduced the incredibly hot Haylen Becall (Sarah Carter) to the team last night. A newbie looking hard to prove herself and get a job on the team permanently.
You might have noticed I stuck a credit behind his name you don’t recognize yet.
It’s an upcoming movie, Armored.
The synopsis of sorts is: A guard for an armored truck company is coerced by his veteran coworkers to steal a truck containing millions. But problems in the plan splits the group, causing the usual deathly difference of opinions between thieves.
He’ll be starring with Columbus Short, Matt Dillon, Laurence Fishburne & Jean Reno, just to name a few.
Armored is supposedly coming out this December.
