This was the final episode, the series finale, of Starz Spartacus franchise, this season called War of the Damned. Crixus (Manu Bennett) has already fallen a few episodes back and his presence is sorely missed. But as the story winds down, loss of characters are inevitable.
To be honest it was inevitable, the actions we saw coming to resolution, the results, not surprising.
And the closure of the series, the final moments seemed satisfying enough for me. History has no claim on what really happened to the man called Spartacus, but what was surmised to have happened in this take from Starz was as good as any other option and possibly, the best option that did or could have occurred.

I thought I would take a moment and join two pieces of news here about a Spartacus spin-off, how a Spartacus cast member is joining Arrow, and why I became a die-hard fan of Manu Bennett.

Spartacus Spin-Off
Deadline is reporting that even though the third season of Spartacus, titled Spartacus: War of the Damned is in its final season, there seems to be chatter about Starz looking at a spin-off of the bloody drama series.
Robert Tapert, one of the executive producers of Spartacus, is pitching the idea of this spin-off, to continue a bit of the story of that era. The spin-off, in his mind, would focus on Gauis Julius Caesar. And it just so happens that Caesar will be introduced in the third season of Spartacus.
Caesar will be played by Australian actor Todd Lasance, and will be a huge pia for Spartacus.
It could be interesting if TV viewers follow suit, and they might. Spartacus pulls in around 6 million viewers so I’d guess a spin-off just might work. Though, on a side-note, I’m not sure why the plug was really pulled on the show if it had that kind of a draw.
Season three, Spartacus: War of the Damned, will premiere January 15th, 2013.
