I’ve been sitting here watching Survivor with my wife, watching both tribes working together within their small circles to figure out different tricks, tactics, and what not. It’s about outwitting, outplaying not only the other team/tribe, but with each other as everyone plots to figure out how to win this game of survivor.
As we all know, Suzanne Collins, the author of The Hunger Games book trilogy series came up with the idea for her young adult books via channel surfing, and coming across an unmentioned reality TV show, then coming across news about war.
And as we know, that led to her story about a dystopian society that puts young adults into a contest called The Hunger Games that involves the need to kill each other until only one is left, to be declared the winner.
OK, I know, I know… there’s death in the fictional games. I’m not proposing a real game of death.

-Survivor: Redemption Island started out and showed us some mental internal game-play. The other thing was watching Hantz apologizing yet one more time for his behavior, as the island game has gotten the best of him. LOL.
On Redemption Island, we have Christine vs. Papa Bear in a battle of bag tosses. Christine has an eagle aim in the beginning and ends up winning the match.
She survives to tackle another evictee while Papa Bear goes home.
Chocran seems to have some seemingly good ideas for a tactic for upsetting Ozzy.
The Immunity challenge was the game where contestants hold bars across their shoulders and teams add weight to the other teams members.

Survivor: South Pacific headed into the Redemption Island duel… Christine vs. Semhar… we get a word poem from Semhar, which basically seemed like her own prayer to herself. While she went on and on, everyone’s eyebrows went up in curiosity. And despite her words, Semhar drops first, eliminating herself. (It was a balancing contest.) She said she was happy she played the game honestly… but she didn’t have enough time to turn evil from the games! And Christine went on about how Coach came to this game to see her eliminated because he seems to not like her. It’s funny how butt-heads can start crap & forget it was they who started it.
Brandon Hantz says he’s unhappy that he lied in the previous week of Survivor. He came out to the crowd about who he is. The crowd seems to think that all he’s been doing is lying, then apologizing for it, so what’s his point? At this point, I’m thinking he is putting a huge target on his back. He either needs to take control somehow, or he’s not going to last long at all.

Survivor: South Pacific opened with us sitting in on Semhar at Redemption Island and she’s reading the rules on a sign post. She has abandonment issues and can’t seem to wrap her mind around being there, all alone. She bursts out into poetry.
The crabs were even running from it.

Coach feels like Edna is a really nice person. He pitches loyalty as a virtue… but as anyone might tell you, loyalty will only get you so far, and sometimes, leave you vulnerable to being surprised. (Trust me on that one.)
Ozzy goes off tree climbing. Dang, he’s adept at that. But his scurrying around like a monkey, literally, pays off as he finds the hidden immunity idol.
Coach gets totally stunned when Brandon tells him who he’s related to. Coach is slightly stunned. But there’s a downside to having him in your back pocket Coach. Brandon is morally disturbed by Mikayla’s methods… half neked, good looking women methods.

CBS’s Survivor: South Pacific started out quick. The castaways were tossed on the island and they didn’t know they were going to be joined by two seasoned competitors. Those seasoned Survivor veterans were Ozzy and Coach, making their third returns to reality TV.
And the reception of the two veterans is on different ends of the Survivor spectrum! Dang. Everyone seemed excited to see Ozzy while with Coach, well, whatever. That’s how it seemed.
Then the veterans were put on the spot and shoved into a Survivor one-on-on challenge with a puzzle at the end of it and Ozzy took the cake and his tribe gets some bonus survival tools.
Ozzy’s team synced up very nicely. They even spent the first day lounging around in beautiful waters of their location while Coach’s team is wee bit distant.
Dawn the mom on 6, is having issues early… she doesn’t like the Bob Marley approach. She’s already cramping from lack of water! Day 2 and she’s crying already.

TV News: Below is the list of new or returning TV shows premiering their new 2011-2012 Fall season this week. Of note, there are no new ABC shows in this list that I’ve put together, but there are some Cinema Static site faves to look out for this Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
Sarah Michelle Gellar‘s Ringer; CBS’s forever show, Survivor with the ever persistent dragon slayer, Coach, is returning; and The CW’s hitting us up with their Thursday night line up of The Vampire Diaries and their newest show rehashing the genre, The Secret Circle.
And I can’t give up my dang guilty pleasure family drama of Parenthood on NBC. The CW’s fashion series with Tyra Banks, America’s Next Top Model, is coming back with an “all-star” season, for, believe it or not, “cycle 17″ of the underfed, skinny-legged career chasers! You also get to watch Tyra act out in so many different ways.
Check it out after the break:

CBS, America’s most watched network, will officially open the 2011-2012 season on Monday, Sept. 19, highlighted by the special series debut of its new comedy, 2 BROKE GIRLS, which premieres at a special time behind the season premiere of TWO AND A HALF MEN.
CBS will once again launch the majority of its new and returning programming during premiere week (Sept. 19-25). SURVIVOR premieres one week earlier (Wednesday, Sept. 14) for the ninth time in the past 10 seasons, and the comedies MIKE & MOLLY (Monday, Sept. 26) and HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN (Thursday, Sept. 29) will debut one week later.

Survivor: Redemption Island
Spoilers if you DVR’d this: The finale of Survivor: Redemption Island kicks in with a great recap of the season. In the Redemption Island challenge, Andrea beat out Matt, Grant & Mike and she goes back into the game. This made her part of the final five. Philip, Rob, Natalie and Ashley with Andrea.
Three girls, two guys. This could be interesting.
In the Survivor immunity challenge, Ashley wins it. Rob started strong but floundered in mid-challenge just enough to give it to her. Now the girls are talking amongst the girls, Rob and Philip are chatting up.
The preview chats seem to show us that Rob will not be playing the immunity idol… and he’s sounding pretty cocky. It worries me when a player gets cocky. But this first tribal council is the last chance to play the idol and Rob plays it.
And Andrea gets the boot! See ya!
The second immunity challenge is a big maze with puzzle pieces to solve a word phrase. Ashley piggie-backed on Rob and simply followed him. I hate that… you lead with good ideas and others follow suit. Crap tactic.

Loyalty is a wonderful trait to have, but as I have learned, as did Grant, it can be a two edged sword and loyalties can make a player the weakest link in a group. And become a threat to your own dreams!

In the last episode of Survivor, we saw Andrea show up on Redemption Island but Matt didn’t seem too plussed by it.
On Redemption Island, they had a new contest that involved a maze with sticks and a puzzle. Despite finishing the maze way ahead of the other three contestants, Ralph ended up losing out at the puzzle stage and being delivered to the Jury instead of staying on the outcasts island, in hopes of returning to the game. D’oh!
Before the Survivor immunity challenge, Rob and Grant were the power, and Rob was yanking Natalie and Ashley’s legs, feeding them what they wanted to hear.
And the real plan was to evict Ashley, wasn’t it? But then Ashley won immunity and that changed everything.
With her holding the power, Rob had to switch up tactics and with the girls, voted Grant out, making him the new Redemption Island guest.

Though I did say the following list is a compilation of Network (not cable) finale dates for all of your favorite shows in May, I did sneak a few cable dates in there.
The first list is sorted by show name. If your show starts with the word ‘the’, look for the main name to be alphabetized. The second list is sorted by date, if that’s your thing!
