How to deal with telemarketers is part of this experience I had today…. check it out and have some fun!
The telemarketer phone number 714-923-1942 has been calling me every day for almost 2 weeks straight. No messages, they just call and hang up if I don’t answer. It had the same area code from a press agent I’ve been dealing with of late, but alas, the rest of the number didn’t match up and “she” never left a message.
So today the phone rang while I was sitting next to it. Ha! I’m in one of those moods where “I’m going to call you on it if you’re stupid enough to do it to me” moods, so I answered. After all these missed calls, how could I possibly not pick up today? Turns out this phone number, 714-923-1942 is for Advanced Access.
I forget his name, but he was real polite, real smooth and real fast.
Mr AA asked “How Are you today?”
‘I’m fantastic. How are you?’
“I’m great, thank you for asking.”
He explained he’s from Advanced Access and his organization is in the business of creating web sites for real estate businesses.
‘That’s great and sounds like a wonderful service!’, I said.
“Are you in the real estate industry?”
‘No, I’m not.’
“unintelligible mumble…” Click!

Some months back was getting called by the phone number 877-603-6194. They were acting like a telemarketer / scam artist by not leaving messages.
I didn’t take detailed notes so ya gonna have to trust me on this one, but the number was coming from a Wells Fargo credit department.
If I recall correctly they were calling to verify a charge on a card. I just found it odd they wouldn’t leave a message.
Telemarketers suck. Plain and simple. They’re like spam for the ears.
There are rules in place that keep the “honest” telemarketers at bay. But the insidious ones who don’t peruse and abide by the National Do Not Call lists are the one’s the tick us off.
The rules, if I understand them correctly, state that if someone does call you, and you tell them to add your number to their Do Not Call List forces them to adhere to the rules. You’ve verbally apprised them of this.
This is why these insidious cretins hang up on you when you start asking questions or make it difficult to actually engage in conversation.
There is a place designed to be a safe haven from these annoying rodents.

You know who is behind (800) 321-8451, stupid telemarketers. But I surmise, being you folk are pretty shart, that you knew that already.
The tactic this phone # uses… let me clarify: I don’t know what phone number this call came from. My phone was off. But this is the number they were stupid enough to leave in what “sounded” like a voice mail that fades in as if you missed the first part where your name might have been and they tell you how urgent it is you call so you can lower your credit card interest rate.
The voice sounds like it’s an urgent issue, and leaves his first name as if he’s your friend.
Friend indeed.

I just got a call on my cell from (228) 209-9560. Area code 228 is the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Others have indicated that it’s Biloxi. To be upfront about it, I don’t know much more than that. But below are some bits on what others have said, and some resource information from the FCC and the Do Not Call Registry.
I didn’t answer the call, but research shows this to be yet another one of those SCAM telemarketing phone numbers. If you call back, you get a ‘disconnected number’ message. Various folks have said that when they answer the call and press 1, as soon as they tell the person to take them off their calling list, they hang up.
(They do that because once they acknowledge your request, they have to abide by your request. At that point, they are breaking the law.)
Another forum complaint said this:
“Received call minutes ago, pressed one to speak with agent, lady came on, I asked to be taken off call list and she hung up. I’m sending this information to the Mississippi Attorney General’s office. This is clearly a scam. Please contact that office with your info immediately to help put a stop to thieves and predators.

Ever get those stupid-ass automated phone calls telling you that your car warranty is about to expire?
Turns out that the company that’s doing these LIES is based in the St. Louis MO area. The companies that have their automations do these calls target people regardless of if they own a car or not or if you’re on the Do-Not-Call list or not. Which if you can bust them for that, that’s a pricey EFF-up on their part.
