terminator

I was cruising the web and noticed a few pieces over on one of my favorite sites… Killer Film.  I spied a piece on the movie rating for the upcoming Terminator 5 movie, and a bit on the story that will unfold in The Amazing Spider-Man

Terminator Salvation

First one up was that they spotted a bit of movie news about the next, upcoming Terminator franchise film and that they are looking to make the next chapter of the franchise, Terminator 5, that it will be rated R.

And that’s a bold and daring move in this ever shaky market these days, but it is something that hard-core movie-goers can appreciate.

PG-13 makes movies more marketable to the section of the consumers that have the most time, a chunk of money, and no bills wearing them down.  But true movie fans always cringe when they see a movie getting the PG-13 stamp…  it seems to cheapen them up a bit, or take some of the reality connections out of a film.  Or so they say.

Terminator franchise

I’ve warned as many as I can that today, in the lore of the Terminator franchise, is the day that Skynet becomes aware, becomes operational.  I deplored many to unplug everything…  but to no avail.

Come this Thursday, Skynet will attack humanity.  The beginning of the end is here.

That is, unless John Connor somehow managed to stop it before it began.  But just in case, stash up on supplies and prepare yourself for what the Terminator franchise has warned us about!

Get to the hills and wait.  You’ve been warned!!!

Legion

Legion, starring Paul Bettany, Lucas Black, Adrianne Palicki, Dennis Quaid, Kevin Durand (Robin Hood, X-Men Origins: Wolverine; on TV:  Lost) et al. is about God giving up on humanity and kick starting the Apocalypse to clean up this mess of a society.  This movie review of Legion is focused on the fun of it, bot the artistic representation or what not of how it reflects on society or what not.  (Keep that in mind!)

The story of Legion is focused on the birth of one child and, with the angels doing God’s bidding to destroy humanity, they come to stop the birth of the child.

The previews for the movie give up most of the action scenes. There are a few subtle (or not) disconnects in a few scenes that just lose a tiny bit of continuity, but overall, it’s a good film for kicking back and chomping down your popcorn or choice guilty pleasure munch-snack.

Terminator franchise

I’m messin’ with you with that title, but all joking aside,  Sci Fi Wire is reporting that the next Terminator franchise movie could be a bit closer to reality because the current rights owner to the Terminator rights hired a Hollywood talent agency to help sell the Terminator rights.

Pacificor LLC (a hedge fund company) bought the Terminator rights for just under $30 million at an auction earlier in ’10 after the previous rights owner went bankrupt.  Ebay, here we come!

Zack Whedon will be showing up at Golden Apple Comics on Saturday, April 3rd, 2010 at 7 p.m..  Hmm, one source says 7 p.m., another says 3 p.m..

Zack will obviously be chatting about his Terminator #1 comic from Dark Horse Comics.

I’d say give them a call and make sure what the correct time is! (323) 658-6047

Terminator franchise sold

Nikki Finke is reporting that Halcyon has sold the rights to the Terminator franchise for $29.5 million.

The winning bid was made by Pacificor, the debtholder company who pushed Halcyon into the bankruptcy state that forced this sale to begin with.

The sale eliminated the debt Halycon owed, and despite selling the rights, they will still receive $5 million for every Terminator movie made and retain the revenue stream from Terminators 3 & 4.

That seems fishy to me, but I don’t understand every angle of this tricky business of movie rights combined with financial failure, so I may not see every angle, but the fish tank seems full to me!

Cinema Static’s Theory Extrapolation with James Cameron:

Here’s one that goes right up there with James Earl Jones doing Darth Vader for chump change:  James Cameron said that if he could Tweet one message to the past to himself, he would say “Don’t Sell!”

You’re probably asking me, don’t sell what?

It seems that for his chance to direct the first 1984 Terminator with Arnold Schwarzenegger, he sold the rights to the franchise for $1.  Nope, not a typo…  that was a dollar symbol and a one.  $1.

That reminds me of the Stargate episode where SG-1, 10 or 15 years down the road had to get a message back through time to keep the team from going to a certain planet and meeting insidious aliens that was thinning out the human species!

Details have emerged on what Zack Whedon’s Terminator Comic is going to be about.

We know that Kyle Reese will be sent from 2029 to 1984 to tackle a T-800.  Zack’s comic rendition of the Terminator franchise shows us Kyle’s life prior to his going back in time.

The Dark Horse press release (after the break) says:

Zack Whedon made a few announcements of late:  His Dr. Horrible comic title comes out November 18th, but more importantly, Zack announced that he is working on a 6-issue Terminator series for our favorite comic publisher, Dark Horse Comics.

He sounds pretty excited about creating scenes from one of his favorite franchises and action scenes that won’t cost $150 million to make.  LOL… good point.

I can’t wait!

There are days I wish I had just a little bit more play money so I can buy some really cool things when they go up for auction.

For instance, check out the Profiles in History auction that took place on October 9th at its 37th Hollywood Memorabilia Auction on October 8-9, 2009.

Check it out after the break, but try not to go insanely jealous… unlike myself!

Here are some auction highlights, after the break
