the howard stern show

Have you been noticing the glorified titles popping up on the internet over this last weekend that alludes to the lie premise that Robin Quivers is leaving The Howard Stern Show?  I find these traffic snagging titles interesting, but I think the best way to look at this ‘news’ is to sit back and think for a moment.  Hence, my honest title here.

First, Robin Quivers loyalty lies with Howard.  He has stuck by her and I suspect that she with him.

Second, Howard Stern signed a new five-year contract extension recently.  In so doing, Quivers herself announced that she has also renewed her contract for another five years.

She does add to the news that it is time for her to move on, but in that sentence is the phrase, “after this next five years!

If you’ve been seeing some headlines, you know that last week when Jesse James made a guest appearance on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM, that he used that moment, while promoting a book he’s written, to diss his ex, Sandra Bullock.

For some reason he feels the need to take some jabs at his ex and to the public eye, that doesn’t make sense.  What the bloody heck happened in the background to make him do this?  Or at least say the things he did on the show?

I’m not going to glorify what he said, but what he did say prompted his present girlfriend, Kat Von D, to make a Facebook post defending herself about how new relationships don’t replace old relationships.

When I first really got to see what I thought Jesse James was about was when he was on Donald Trump’s The Celebrity Apprentice.  I came away liking the guy.  But it seems that I fell for the very spin that I warn everyone else about.

Howard Stern‘s radio side-kick, Bubba Booey, aka show producer Gary Dell’Abate, was denied an appointment to sit on his town’s Parks Board committee.  It’s not final, as it still needs to be approved by a full, 230-member confirmation, but things aren’t looking good.

Gary Dell’Abate has been bucking for this position for sometime now, but the local folks fear that the man who co-pilots The Howard Stern Show may not be the right man for the job.  Then again, when over-zealous fans send bags of crap to people in protest of the anticipated denial, can you blame them?  In this case, the fandom DID NOT HELP.  I mean really, what were you thinking?

-

The reasoning behind denying Mr. Dell’Abate the position were concerns of his airing town business on the satellite radio show.  Which seems like an interesting and logical concern, except for the fact that if you listen to the show, he’s touched on his candidacy for this board a few times, but he isn’t airing dirty laundry from the other positions held?  Does he?

He’s lived in the neighborhood for 16 years and was nominated in January for the spot, plus he’s been part of the coaching staff of the one of the local teams for nine years now and has coached for three other local youth-based baseball leagues form his town.  If you ask me, this is exactly the kind of guy you want, who is interested and involved.

For some reason there’s this supposed feud (or not, depending how you look at it) going on between filmmaker Kevin Smith and SiriusXM radio host Howard Stern. Well, at least it seems that Mr. Smith is keeping it alive.

Kevin Smith brought up his issues with Howard Stern yet again during one of his self-hosted podcasts, noting that the last time that he asked for an interview spot on the Howard Stern Show, he was ridiculed by the radio jock.

“Before I got on air, [Stern's] talk up was: ‘Kevin Smith — he’s a filmmaker and he made Clerks and all these movies — he’s always calling and trying to get on the show’.

And right then and there he lost me. Cause I’m like: ‘Dude? You just treated me like one of these f—ing Wack Packers — one of these guys who calls up and says: ‘Hey man! Listen to me fart the National Anthem!’ or ‘I’m gonna pee on my girlfriend’s hand’ or something like that.”

Here’s something about Howard Stern that needs to be understood… there is no stone unturned when he deals with his guests, period. He pulls no punches and asks deep, insightful and at times, incredibly personal questions.  he speaks his mind.  And that is something many folks can’t seem to deal with.

From the first paragraph in the quote, that’s all Howard Stern was doing, making an honest statement.  Apparently Mr. Smith made a few calls requesting to be on the show.  Yet from Stern’s quote, Smith goes on to equate himself with the Howard Stern Wack Packers.

The Wack Packers push my own limits and patience as these are some select “personalities” who call in who have some incredibly wild and nutty “eccentric” personalities & issues. They’re so far out there that I’m not even going to try and describe them here.

But then Smith’s wife / co-host tossed out that his feelings were hurt and he concurred. He went on to say he would never treat anyone like that and questioned allowing himself being bashed from someone, whom he respects so much that he wouldn’t bash back.

Yet it seems on-the-fly, he digressed from announcing a free ticket giveaway to his movie Red State during his Howard Stern interview, and instead, took the giveaway to a terrestrial based radio station, WFAN, saying they reach way more people.

Regionally speaking (where the movie is playing), WFAN was probably the smarter move, but for numbers, I’m not sure which avenue got more exposure. Then again, Kevin Smith wanted to be on the Howard Stern Show, so he knows how many millions can be reached via the satellite broadcaster.

This coming from the guy who publicly dissed all form of internet media exposure before the opening of his indie released film, Red State. Saying that he had a single location that contained all possible information anyone could ask him at a single link, circumventing the need to answer the same questions over and over through redundant interviews.

I wonder if Howard Stern weren’t on vacation, if he’d even notice this? Smith has a lot to prove… as he announced a pretty optimistic plan to make money off of Red State in a private film tour, hoping to charge some insane amount of money that he felt people would pay, to see the movie. It has been touted as a pretty good project, and he’s touted as one who does produce great content.

If he didn’t have the need to use expletives in almost every sentence he mutters, I would probably be impressed with the man, but I had to stop following his twitter account because it was just Mr. Smith, going on and on… about his wife, and other things.  I didn’t mind following him, but when he got going, he totally filled up my feed.  Maybe I should create yet another twitter feed that is designed to follow the more popular ramblers!  LOL.

I just find it interesting that Kevin Smith keeps coming at Howard Stern… then again, any press is good press!

The Howard Stern Show Contract Bits

-

The Howard Stern Show only has a few episodes left on Sirius XM Radio until his last scheduled episode on December 17th and according to my sources in the mix, they’re still negotiating.

They’ve never gone this long in a negotiation session and one has to worry about the chances of The Howard Stern Show surviving.  Or do we?

When Howard Stern went to Sirius, he drew a few million subscribers with him.  For Sirius, that was a pretty big move for them.  Though in truth, it was a mere shadow of numbers that Howard was getting on terrestrial radio.  The odd part of Howard moving to satellite radio was that the comedy  schtick that used the annoy and keep me away from the terrestrial broadcasts minimized and he started having solid interviews and sound-byte time with his celebrity friends who come by his studio.  To be honest, if you ever get past the early image conceptions we all have of him from his terrestrial radio days, he’s a very forthcoming, honest and smart man and despite his self-proclaimed issues, he bares all when talking about himself and his opinions.  A rather refreshing take considering the state of Hollywood and the world of spin-masters these days.

He’s proven to be a very insightful and a smart movie reviewer when he would announce his opinions of movies he’s seen (He likes the action / superhero /sci fi genre) and as you would guess, he sometimes does let loose with his language because he can on satellite, but it isn’t as rampant as one would think it would have been.

As we all know, Artie Lange of The Howard Stern Show, was admitted to the hospital a few days back.

According to Fox News, he was admitted to the hospital after his mother found him in his apartment with 9 self-inflicted stab wounds.

Doctors saved him last weekend from the injuries.

As one of my biggest fans / reader and avid Howard Stern fan said to me this morning:

“THAT JUST SUCKS!!!  I HAVE THE CHILLS!  Man I hope he gets some serious help and is able to move past this.  Way too talented to have this be the end of him.”

Cinema Static agrees.  Our thoughts are with him as we hope he see’s the light and moves on.
