the vampire diaries

Cinema Static - TV News, Movie News and other Entertainment OpinionHave you ever been watching a TV show and suddenly there’s a song blasting at you that makes you go, “Wow!”, and now you have to have that song on your player?

The other night my wife was watching The Secret Circle, and there was a tune in the background that just caught both our attentions.

I headed out and was able to find the exact name of the song.

Yea, I get moments like that too.  Sometimes a tune jumps out at you!

One good way to find a song is to head on over to TuneFind.  I don’t know how quickly they update, but they seem to be pretty quick about it.  I looked at a few shows and TV shows that aired the previous night from when I’m writing this now had music track updates.

The Vampire Diaries season 3

With this new (third) season premiere of The Vampire Diaries, Stephan (Paul Wesley) is either totally gone to the dark side, or has to play it up to Klaus (Joseph Morgan) as he starts to commit his old style killings as The Ripper… and I love that touch where he puts his victims back together.

But as Stephan needs to keep his promise to Klaus, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) are trying to locate Stephan via the path of destruction he’s leaving.  (Klaus and Stefan are looking for a werewolf named Ray Sutton)  Klaus seems aware of Damon’s tracking their moves and sends a warning message via Stephan to Damon, via the death of Stephan’s human “distraction” of a lover.  Ouch.

Cinema Static - TV News, Movie News and other Entertainment news and opinionTV News:  Below is the list of new or returning TV shows premiering their new 2011-2012 Fall season this week.  Of note, there are no new ABC shows in this list that I’ve put together, but there are some Cinema Static site faves to look out for this Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Sarah Michelle Gellar‘s Ringer; CBS’s forever show, Survivor with the ever persistent dragon slayer, Coach, is returning; and The CW’s hitting us up with their Thursday night line up of The Vampire Diaries and their newest show rehashing the genre, The Secret Circle.

And I can’t give up my dang guilty pleasure family drama of Parenthood on NBC.  The CW’s fashion series with Tyra Banks, America’s Next Top Model, is coming back with an “all-star” season, for, believe it or not, “cycle 17″ of the underfed, skinny-legged career chasers!  You also get to watch Tyra act out in so many different ways.

Check it out after the break:

Convention Listing Sci Fi Convention, Comic Con

For those of you looking for something to do in September of 2011, something that supports your love of the sci-fi genre, there are a few big convention events coming up in September, if you live near Atlanta, Nashville or Chicago.

-

Dragon*Con

First, don’t forget that Dragon*Con is coming up in early September and seems to be the only major event taking place this month.  APE 2011 is still a wee bit off, in October as is the Mid-Ohio Comic Con, which takes place in late October in the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

-

Dragon*Con is taking place Labor Day Weekend on September 2-5, 2011, in Altanta Georgia.   (www.dragoncon.org)

The convention has a very unique way of hosting its event.  Rather than in one location or convention center, the event will spreads its 40,000+ member convention over five different hotels in the  downtown Atlanta section near Centennial Olympic Park.

Here’s a quick little round up of a few casting pieces of news for The Vampire Diaries, Game of Thrones, CSI: Miami & Glee & American Idol!

The Vampire Diaries

Sebastian Roche in 24

Sebastian Roché is joining The Vampire Diaries as a vampire hunter… that ain’t good.  He usually always plays strong characters…  and this character seems to be going after Klaus.  The interesting part about Roche’s character, is that Klaus, who isn’t afraid of anyone, is afraid of this guy.

It sounds good.

-

Game of Thrones

Robert Pugh (The Ghost Writer) has been cast in the role of Craster.  Craster is called a shaky ally to the Night’s Watch gang.

"Comic Con" News

The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries Comic Con panel really didn’t produce much news… just really great banter amongst the panelists:

The panel included Joseph Morgan, Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Candice Accola and Paul Wesley.  Exec producer Kevin Williamson was also there.

Another panel birthday at Comic Con, this time the crowd sang happy birthday to Paul Wesley.

Speaking of Wesley, he said he’ll be enjoying embracing the darker side of Stefan.

Dobrev said she likes playing both characters.  Something about the nest of both worlds.

We have not seen the last of Elijah.

Damon is not happy how things are turning out at the moment.

The CW Network LogoThe CW has come out with their 2011/2012 Fall TV season schedule.  We have some new and some old, much like the other networks.  With The CW, the returning series that interest Cinema Static includes The Vampire Diaries and SupernaturalNikita is returning, but has moved to the time slot that Smallville vacated on Fridays.

The new shows popping up on The CW‘s 2011-12 TV season include Hart of Dixie, Ringer, & The Secret Circle.

Ringer is the Sarah Michelle Gellar show where she runs from some questionable ilk.  She assumes the identity of her sister, but as luck would have it, her sister is in some kind of trouble herself.  Zoinks!

Other cast includes Nestor Carbonell, Kristoffer Polaha, Tara Summers, Mike Colter and Ioan Gruffudd.

The Secret Circle is based on another book series from the author of The Vampire Diaries and is the story of a girl who discovers she’s a witch and that she’s a central figure to a battle of good and bad.  The Sarah Connor Chronicles star, Thomas Dekker co-stars.  I hope the fans are too witched-out from The Vampire Diaries!

H8R is a reality series of a sorts.

Check out the upcoming Fall TV Season below:
