Falling Skies is what the ad calls an epic television series from TNT, that comes from Dreamworks Television this June. Noah Wyle stars as a resistance leader who is up against an invading alien force in this series from Steven Spielberg. The one thing that stands out for me is that Spielberg says the show isn’t about the invasion itself but what was left behind by the aliens and how the humans deal with it. Maybe you’ll be able to determine that for yourself from the Falling Skies web comic they’ve been producing also. They’re 4 chapters in already.
I like the one line from Wiley in the preview below from Falling Skies where he says that “History of full of inferior forces creating so much trouble that the invading army leaves.” LOL, in other words be as annoying as possible until you have victory! I love it. I’m trying valiantly to not say that this premise and preview trailer reminds me of this, or that or the other thing. It does but yet I’m trying to see it as something that will stand on its own. Once H.G. Wells created War of the Worlds, you could say that everything with aliens is like that. (As one example.) Plus, it is too easy to compare.
Aside from Noah Wiley (Donnie Darko, ER), the cast also includes Sarah Carter, Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation), Seychelle Gabriel (The Last Airbender) among many.

Saving Grace on TNT starring Oscar winning actor Holly Hunter (The Piano, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Thirteen) as Grace Hanadarko has been a personal favorite since it first aired in 2007. It hooked me the moment the opening titles rolled and I heard the theme song Lonely Road by Everlast.
I was having a conversation the other day, via twitter, with fellow Cinema Static contributor, Lisa Scott. We both agreed that there are not enough good lead roles in television for women over forty. Unfortunately, when the third season finale of Saving Grace airs at the end of June there will be one less.
The show is edgy and deserves its 10PM Monday time slot on TNT. Detective Grace Hanardarko is a cigarette smoking, beer and whisky drinking, passionate woman who attacks life head on. In past episodes, she carried on an adulterous relationship with her partner Det. Ham Dewey (Kenneth Johnson [Blade, The Shield]). Grace is deep down a caring person and willingly risks her life for family, fellow officers, friends, and total strangers. As the series progressed, we learned what drives her sometimes to engage in self-destructive behavior.

After TNT picked up Southland and ran with it, it seems it was a good call for the cable network, and someone else’s (NBC) loss.
TNT has picked up Southland for a 3rd season. The 10-episode season will begin to air in January.
And some of my Southland fans have been letting me know how happy they are to hear that during some of our offline chats yesterday!! Very cool indeed!

Everyone’s favorite cylon, Tricia Helfer, whose been on Battlestar Galactica, the awesome Burn Notice & the fun, action-filled Human Target, to name a few, is joining the cast of TNT’s Dark Blue. I’m betting Tricia’s fans are pretty happy to see her get a recurring role on a regular television series. I know I am!
TNT’s Dark Blue is brought to TV by Jerry Bruckheimer and it’s an awesome, gritty cop drama starring Dylan McDermott, Omari Hardwick & Nicki Aycox.
I’ve actually really enjoyed the show and it’s cast of actors / characters.

Men of a Certain Age, which first aired on December 7th, continues its 10:00 PM eastern Monday night time slot on TNT. It marks the return of the Emmy® winning writing talents of Ray Romano and Mike Royce to series television; this time with a drama. Their ability as story tellers and to write realistic dialog has only improved with time. The show has the potential to bring another successful award winning series to TNT.
Men of a Certain Age stars Emmy® winner Ray Romano, Emmy® winner Andre Braugher and Golden Globe® Winner Scott Bakula with a supporting cast that is comprised of highly skilled and talented actors.
The story is about the lives of three men approaching a certain age who have been friends since college.
Owen (Andre Braugher) is the everyman of the three friends. He appears to be a happy and successful married father of three. The truth is that he is an unhappy car salesman working for a demanding father. As much as he would like to quit, he stays to please his wife Melissa (Lisa Gay Hamilton) and provide for his children. The stress doesn’t help him control his diabetes with a healthy life style.
