A couple of days ago Syfy announced that in top of renewing Being Human for a third season, they’re also renewing the special effects competition series, Face Off, for a third season also.

Again, TV ratings spoke oodles. The second season premiere of Face Off pulled in 2.5 million viewers, translating to 1.52M adults 18-49 and 1.31M adults 25-54. The first two episodes of the season pulled in the most viewers ever, during the run of this TV series.
To be honest, it is an amazing series to watch and you can learn a lot about what goes on behind the scenes of movies where your favorite monsters roam the Earth, looking for tender viddles of human morsels to devour!
This latest episode I watched, the artists transformed their models into animal plants… this wasn’t their best episode for results, and a few were things that looked like even I could have pulled them off. (Well, probably not, but from my couch, hey, anything seems possible.)

House M.D. TV News:

Today Fox announced that the present season of House, in its eighth season, will be its last season.
Fox issued a joint statement with House executive producers David Shore, Katie Jacobs and Hugh Laurie, that House has been canceled, as in, it won’t be renewed.
“After much deliberation, the producers of House M.D. have decided that this season of the show, the eighth, should be the last. By April this year they will have completed 177 episodes, which is about 175 more than anyone expected back in 2004.”
Some fans will be saying thank god, while others will be sad to see this.

Below are a couple of TV news bits on actress Summer Glau… first about her guest role in Grey’s Anatomy, then a bit about a new role in a TNT pilot movie.

Back in March ’11 and later in May of that year, I told you about Awake, a new show ordered up from NBC. It looks like it will be premiering pretty soon.

Awake will premiere on Thursday, March 1st at 10 p.m.. It stars Jason Isaacs as “a police detective who’s involved in a traumatic car accident and wakes up in two fractured realities.”
His life is now torn between two realities. In one, his wife survived the accident & his son did not. In the other reality, it’s the other way around. When he goes to sleep in one reality, he’ll wake up in the other.
The catch is that it’s very difficult to define whicn of these realities is real. (And some wonder, if either one will turn out real.)

Lately, I’ve been veering away from TV news on upcoming projects. I just don’t have the kind of time that one man needs to cover a lot of it… but this one, I could not resist.
NBC has ordered a dramatic thriller from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke called Revolution.
As far as I’m concerned, these two combining to put something together goes beyond thrilling for this kid! If you’ve seen the CW’s series, Supernatural, starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, then you know what I’m talking about. It’s a great show.
Revolution takes place in a world where all forms of energy have disappeared and we follow some characters who are struggling to survive this situation and attempting to reunite with loved ones.
Bryan Burk (Fringe) will be executive producer.
I already can’t wait to see future TV news about this project and who they’ll start casting for roles.
(Sorry… I’m all fan-boying about this one!)

I know you were curious, right? Well, for all 15 or 20 of you that might be interested, (I know you care!) the other weekend when Syfy channel aired “The Syfy Saturday Original Movie” Swamp Volcano, starring Rachel Hunter and Brad Dourif, pulled in just over the usual average number of viewers for a Saturday night original movie on Syfy…
Syfy averages around 2 million viewers on their Saturday night movie programming and Swamp Volcano pulled in just over that, with 2.17 million total viewers on its premiere night. That’s right, if you watched, you were part of a 2 million person party. 724k adults, ages 25-54 were part of that demographic.

In Swamp Volcano, oil rig drillers in the Gulf of Mexico accidentally hit an underground lava flow, causing a massive volcano to form in Miami. A volcanologist and her sister attempt to blow the whistle on an illegal oil drilling scheme before it sets off the eruption that will destroy civilization. Swamp Volcano was a production of Bullet Films.

I just heard on my local TV news program that Fox’s new hit show, Alcatraz, is starting to cause a stir at the real Alcatraz, here in the Bay Area.
Now even though I have yet to watch the new TV series season premiere of Alcatraz, I’m already writing about it, and I guess, to some degree, I’ve just been spoiled! Do’h! The show is from J.J. Abrams, and starring Sam Neill, Sarah Jones and Jorge Garcia, the series is about time-displaced crooks that disappeared way back when, and are now starting to mysteriously reappear today.
And for some reason, folks are thinking the real prison has clues and secret rooms for them to find, in relation to the TV series.

If you were hanging out here around Cinema Static on Brusimm.com Monday night or Tuesday morning, you might have caught my not-so-rosy season premiere review of Syfy’s Lost Girl. But like many others, we all tuned in to see what the show was all about.
The TV ratings for Lost Girl showed that 1.47 million viewers tuned in to catch the series premiere episode of this Canadian sci-fi hit, pulling in a 1.2 HH rating.
Airing before Lost Girl was the 2nd season premiere of Being Human, which pulled in 1.8M viewers, with a 1.3 HH.
For Syfy, those look like good numbers, especially in the market of VoD and online streaming… I fully expect Being Human to pull in solid numbers but I am going to wait and see what numbers we see for subsequent episodes of Lost Girl before committing, though I would not be surprised if the numbers take a dive.
Did you know that the executive producers of Being Human are Michael Prupas (The Kennedys), Jeremy Carver (Supernatural) and Anna Fricke (Men in Trees, Everwood) who are both writers/showrunners, Adam Kane (The Mentalist, Heroes), and Rob Pursey and Toby Whithouse.
