Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson in 'Twilight Breaking Dawn'

Cinema Static on Brusimm reader, Jen C., went and saw The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – part 1 movie last night.  After a wee bit of badgering, begging and asking, she sent me her perspective, or movie review of Breaking Dawn.  This review comes from the perspective of an adult, as you might be able to tell by her commentary.

Thanks Jen!!!

(If you trust my perspectives on movies, I would happily say you can extend that trust to Jen’s perspective also.  I trust what she has to say about movies.  We’re of a similar mind that way.)

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, from Summit Entertainment, is directed by Bill Condon, who is another in a long line of directors that have been tasked by Summit to bring the Twilight book franchise to life.  It’s fascinating that they continually tap new directorial talent to bring the franchise to life.  I presume it’s a cost saving measure, but that’s just a guess on my part.

As if you didn’t know, Twilight: Breaking Dawn stars Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, and oh yea, Robert Pattinson.

Check out the guest movie review after the break:

Cinema Static Box Office Numbers - Top-10 MoviesIf you’re wondering about the top-10 movies at the box office:  Twilight: Breaking Dawn pt 1 put the bite on The Muppets, Arthur Christmas and Hugo!

As expected, despite some huge family anticipated favorites coming out for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Pt 1), maintained its grip on the top spot of the box office tallies beating out the three new movies that were hoping for that coveted number 1 spot.

Now unlike much of the media, I’m not going to spend time comparing this to that and that to this… meaning how well Breaking Dawn is doing versus New Moon, etc.  Or how this year, the Thanksgiving movies fared against last years’ and so forth.

Nah, I’m just looking at this weekend, now.  In the time frame we’re living this moment.  With that said,

These are all industry estimates

Twilight: Breaking Dawn pt 1, will be raking in $42M for Robert Pattinson, Kirsten Stewart and Taylor Lautner, bringing the movie gross tally to a whopping $221M take at the box office.  (I hope they’re saving their money from this windfall!)

The best performing new movie that came out this weekend that tried competing with the love of vampires and werewolves, was The Muppets, who will probably pull in just under $30M.

Happy Feet Two retained a top-five spot, cranking in just over $13M, and staying ahead of the next new movie, Arthur Christmas.  Arthur mustered up just under $13M in holiday money.

Twilight Convention

This month, the world of Comic-Cons are taking December off while there will be a few conventions of another type but only in the early part of December.

-

Prior to the opening of Breaking Dawn, Part 1, in theaters, the full cast were hitting up the conventions to drum up business.  Now they too are taking a bit of time off from the convention tour.  (I mean, you did go see the movie already, right?)

Guests appearing at the Texas Twilight convention include Nikkie Reed, Charlie Bewley, Booboo Stewart, Chaske Spencer, Guri Weinberg, Patrick Brennan and Tyson Houseman.

Breaking Dawn Translated into Breaking the Law

Some folks take things way too seriously, and then again, age can sometimes be a big determinant.

Turns out an 18-year-old fan of Twilight: Breaking Dawn was busted for driving under the influence.  They found her in a wrecked car, in a ditch, with no front tire.

She said that she ended up in this predicament because her boyfriend did not take her to go see the new Twilight movie.

Nice…  but seriously, stop making excuses for what it was you wanted to do any way!

Cinema Static Box Office Numbers - Top-10 MoviesSo did Twilight: Breaking Dawn Pt 1 end up breaking records while it crushed the top-10 movies this weekend, or did it just settle for kicking everyone’s butt this weekend?

Twilight: Breaking Dawn is pulling in an estimated $139 million at the domestic box office, $144M overseas, seeing a $283M weekend.  Here domestically, Breaking Dawn did not pull in enough to beat Twilight: New Moon’s  $143M from two years ago.

But more telling is the performance of two other new movies at the theater…

Happy Feet Two opened this weeked in the number two spot and is headed for a $22M weekend, and the other new movie, The Descendants, with George Clooney, crashed hard into made it into the 10th spot, pulling in a meager $1.2M at the box office!  But that number is deceptive, as the movie only opened in 29 theaters!  Keep an eye out for this one!!!

Immortals starring Henry Cavill & Jack and Jill with Adam Sandler, drew in another $12M while the animated Puss and Boots voiced by Antonio Banderas, still had $10M in movie goers watch it.
