In the previous Summer Olympics, Michael Phelps ignited the base of fans as he started winning his various events. In that year, he erupted onto the scene with his many wins, including that super close call finish.
But this time around, Phelps showed up with specific events in mind and between his performances and media attention, dominated the Olympics.
He gave fans something to ponder and talk about. I’ve seen some fascinating Twitter or FB op-eds. But whether you think he mailed it in, did for just the glory, the marketing rights to be more valuable or truly came out to end his game at the top, there’s one thing that is there, no matter what you think…
Michael Phelps is THE most decorated Olympic athlete ever, regardless of the season.

And he’s ending his career properly, by going out on top of his game.
