With Carl Edwards latest on-track antics where he sent Brad Keselowski flying down the front stretch of Atlanta, at least one good thing came of it: We’re not speculating on NASCAR’s new girlfriend Danica Patrick this week.
I’m not saying that’s good or bad, but saying.
As far as Edwards goes, he’s lost a lot of fans with his premeditated revenge. Or so it seems. On one call-in on SIRIUS’s The Morning Drive, a self-professed Edwards fan has given all his NASCAR tickets away and will stop going to his 6 to 8 events a year because of this debacle.
I’m also surprised at the public perspective by NASCAR about the wing lifting the car up as it gets turned around. After Ryan Newman’s solo flight, I could have sworn NASCAR was saying the wing does not cause the car to flip. Yet after the Keselowski flip, the on-air announcers were all over that wing like Carl Edwads on Brad.
Like I’ve said before, Carl seems to let loose on someone at least once a year. Don’t worry, he’s good now for the rest of 2010. But as everyone keeps saying that they have to put it behind them, it seems that Carl has to let it go. It was his pure fixation and vendetta that caused this.
And though Jack Roush said in a radio interview yesterday that he didn’t condone what Carl did, it sure didn’t sound like he objected too seriously.
Sure, Brad Keselowski said he won’t change his driving style. That’s commendable. No one else has, why should he? If Carl comes down on any driver who can’t get out of the way in time, should they be slapping the brake pedal for Carl or should Carl actually take note that there’s a car in the low line and, heaven forbid, try not to go down there??!
When Carl got airborne at Talladega, it was Carl forcing himself down into Brad. Brad was racing for the win and NASCAR rules said you can’t go below the yellow line. Brad didn’t give in. No racer should. That’s twice that Carl has come down on Brad… and it’s Brad’s fault? I’m thinking Carl needs to quit bullying Brad. (IE: Stop choking people [Harvick], stop threatening punches [Kenseth], stop tearing out of the pits to hit a car under pace-caution [jr., nationwide].)
Face it, Carl has done his own share of “oops” and tossed people into the wall. He needs to give some back and just understand it’s part of the game. Especially if you keep toying with anyone’s RF fender.
If we’re all so mad about how Brad’s been driving, dang, we would have seriously skewered Dale Earnhardt Sr.. LOL.
On the bright side, we all now know what makes Carl tick and knowing more about the drivers of NASCAR is not a bad thing. It helps make decisions on where and how we spend our hard earned dollars.

Does anyone remember the 2004 fall Atlanta race, say lap 312 when a very young and very aggressive driver, Carl Edwards, stuck Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in the wall when Jr. was looking like it was his race and the ’04 championship to win??? Think back now.
I was at that race when Kurt Busch blew an engine and the #8 DEI Budweiser Chevy was the class of the field for most all of the race. A young overly aggressive Carl Edwards, looking to make a name for himself, caused a huge wreck, forcing Dale Jr out of the race and effectively ending his chances for his first Sprint Cup championship!!
Oh how things have changed since that day! I don’t believe that I saw any retaliation from Dale, Jr. in the remaining races that season, nor any retaliation in the next season. Go figure!!
I have said “let them race”, but if there is any overly aggressive driving, stiff punishment is in order. NASCAR missed this on big time!
PS Where is Danica this week???
LOL… she’s off in her full-time driving stint! And thank you! I wish I could fracking recall some of these things better because there’s other things that were trying to dig their way out of my brain, but the skull was too thick!
