The Spike TV SCREAM Awards is an event that honors the best in different categories of entertainment. The nominees that are selected for the different categories of the SCREAM Awards are chosen by what looks to me, to be a highly qualified advisory board that includes Tim Burton, John Carpenter, Wes Craven, Damon Lindelof, Ridley Scott, Quentin Tarantino & Joss Whedon.
What I like about the SCREAM Awards is that once nominated by the advisory board, it’s up to you, the fans, to vote. That takes out the ever evil politicing factor out of the equation and we see real winners.
The movie with the most nominations looks to be Kick-Ass (17),
Inception (15) &
Iron Man 2 (13). The TV series with the most is True Blood (10).
But the problem is that this last year is stacked with some wonderful films.
For example, the Ultimate Scream Category has a beloved favorite of mine, Neill Blomkamp‘s District 9. Which I would have voted for in a hot second. Except, it’s up against True Blood & Jon Favreau‘s Iron Man 2. But when I think I would have had to choose between True Blood and Iron Man 2, then suddenly there’s Christopher Nolan‘s Inception glaring right back at me, daring me to not vote for it. Yes, Alice in Wonderland, Avatar, Kick-Ass, Lost, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Zombieland are in the running too, but Inception, for me, is the undeniable winner in this group.
I’m not looking forward to having to choose amongst the following Scream Awards categories, but the voting is pretty easy. Once you land on the website and start voting, it’s automatic. Once you set your vote for a category, the site acknowledges your vote and automatically takes you to the next category. Ug, the Best Science Fiction Actor mixes TV against movies, as do a lot of the categories. That’s not fair! I see that Tom Welling is up for Best Superhero.
The voting isn’t easy, that’s for sure! Here are the different categories:
