24‘s producer, Jon Cassar, announced that 24 has been officially canceled. These 24-hours will be the last for Jack Bauer. As far as NBC picking the show up, in one of the initial, oddest reasons given for why a show was not picked up, it was initially reported that the writers could not come up with a story line for a 9th season.
Actually, I’m guessing that it’s just the best reason they could come up with for why NBC didn’t want to drop the big bucks to produce the show. Not to mention Keifer Sutherland said it was never a real possibility for him.
A movie is being written right now, (I’m not going down the writers can’t write alley again!) and could go into production as early as this summer.
24 Season 8 SPOILERS
The rest of the season, we’ll see some romance between Jack and Renee, there will be some tragedy and then Jack will be bent on vengeance.
As far as the end of this series, it is being said that Jack lives. His mental state of happy is the big item in question.
As a matter of fact, Keifer Sutherland said,
“The finale episode won’t be a cliff-hanger,” Sutherland promises. “We will know definitely where Jack stands and where he’s headed in his life. I don’t want to say too much other than it’s going to be very exciting.”
Well, it’s been a great trip over the last “eight” days of 24 and I’m sorry to see the show end.
In Closing
Remember, when a show ends, that also means jobs end and that folk will be out looking for new jobs. That, is the part that sucks. It turns out through friends and family, I know 3 folks who work on the show. For them, I’m bummed.
Also, kudos to /Film for being all over this, and it looks like they were the first to report the news out there… that’s a sharp Twitter eye!
