The Hangover Part III Movie Review:
This is the third, and supposedly final chapter from The Hangover movie franchise.
In this third film, director/producer/writer Todd Phillips takes a very different tone with the franchise. Instead of our guys, the “Wolfpack,” trying to figure out what happened from a drug-induced fog, the opening scenes include a prison break, animal deaths, heart attacks, an intervention and ticked off gangsters.
And the story takes off from there, as Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and Ken Jeong reprise their roles.
It was a slow developing opening for this short, 102-minute film, and at some points, it felt much longer than that. But once things get going, the banter between our Wolfpack is reminiscent of the first two films, to some degree.
This third chapter took a different and slightly darker approach to our characters, yet retained the character banter we have come to appreciate from the first two movies.
It wasn’t outrageously funny, but it was a cute kind of funny. Even though this is supposedly the final movie of the franchise, there’s a mid-credits scene that sets it up so if this movie does well enough, they’ve set it up with a good starting point for No. 4, if they do one.)
All in all, it wasn’t bad.
