As is the case, I’ve been ignoring the day-to-day news of Overture Film‘s movie titled Let Me In, but no longer.
Let Me In is an interesting take on the vampire genre that is directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and stars Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road), Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass), Oscar®nominee Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) & Elias Koteas (Shutter Island, The Killer Inside Me). It is a remake, or an Americanization of the John Ajvide Lindqvist’s Swedish horror film, Let the Right One In.
The Synopsis of Let Me In:
Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl from Kick-Ass) stars as Abby, a mysterious 12-year old girl, who moves next door to Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Road). Owen is a social outcast who is viciously bullied at school and in his loneliness, forms a profound bond with his new neighbor. Owen can’t help noticing that Abby is like no one he has ever met before. As a string of grisly murders occupy the town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl is really a savage vampire.

Moretz, in my mind, is really making a name for herself with some of her roles these days. In Kick-Ass, she did that, and it looks like in this movie, she’ll being dealing out a different kind of ass kicking. It should be very interesting.
I’m also looking forward to seeing Elias Koteas. I tend to like his presentation of his characters.

With the bickering of original vs remake surrounding this movie, I’m getting more and more curious. I’m inclined to see the original before watching this one. But then again, I sometimes watch scary movies for other reasons, such as Quarantine for Jennifer Carpenter, Christine for the Plymouth Fury, 28 Weeks Later for Rose Byrne, etc.
