The 'On Syfy Ratings' Series

Over the next few days I’ll be putting up some stats on some of the more popular shows on The Syfy Channel.

Today, I’m starting with the website itself.  Of course, the web site is the front page for the NBC network so it should be getting some hefty traffic numbers, but have you ever wondered what they were?

Check it out:

Syfy.com

Through November of 2009, Syfy.com is on pace for being the best year ever in all the key metrics for the second straight year.

The site is averaging 3.6 million unique visitors, which is up +10% from 2008.  Those 3.6 mil unique visitors accounted for

  • 5.8 million visits so far (+15% compared to 2008),
  • 33.8 million page views (+16),
  • 5.4 million video streams (+40%),
  • 16 minutes per visit (+34%) and
  • 26 minutes per unique (+40)

Syfy’s Game Center is also on pace to having a big year in numbers in all the metrics that make them drool.

Averaging 7.3 million page views they brought in:

  • 105K uniques,
  • 246K visits,
  • 10 minutes per visit,
  • 29 page views per visit and
  • 71 page views per unique

Though I’m confused that the Game Center time on site is less than Syfy.com.  I’d think it would be longer in duration if you’re playing games.  (Is this statistic saying something to us?)

Syfy Rewind is averaging 3.1 million streams:

  • 313K uniques,
  • 10 streams per unique,
  • 54 minutes per visit, and
  • 94 minutes per unique

Destination Truth is averaging 370K page views.  This is acconting for

  • 50K uniques, and
  • 198K video streams

SciFi Wire has averaged 2.9 million page views with 694K of those being unique visitors while DVICE is averaging 2.3 million page views and 800K uniques.

So for now, all the web entities are busting all previous records, no matter how short or long they have been online.  This seems to point towards a form of success for having renamed the network to Syfy, or has it?  Could the content itself just be doing the work for them.
