Sanctuary on the Syfy Channel

Sanctuary is getting a 4th season on the Syfy Channel as the network has just announced today the pickup for a 13-episode season, heralding quite an achievement for a series that is shot almost entirely on green screen.

Sanctuary stars Amanda Tapping, Robin Dunne, Agam Darshi, Ryan Robbins and Christopher Heyerdahl and is shot almost exclusively with a RED camera.

Amanda Tapping is also an executive producer of what was originally a web-based series, and is most notably known for the debacle prior to season three when Emilie Ullerup was mysteriously let go and replaced by Agam Darshi. A move that did not set well with many fans of the series and to date, has never really been explained clearly enough for some of the hard-core fans. It seems the move did lose the show some fans, but not all the fans.

Bring back Emilie!!! There, I said it. It would not be a bad idea and would reunite old fans once again. But that’s just my opinion. There’s a whole different business infrastructure that underlies this business that we know naught about! Now that I’ve pitched my two cents, let’s move on.

Despite Darshi not really growing on me, I still enjoy the show. It’s literally in a good spot on the schedule because that time of night on a Friday, there’s not much else I want to watch and I end up tuning in for either the first airing or the repeat airing at midnight or 1 a.m..

New episodes of the series will return in April, 2011.
