As we can see this last week in The Vampire Diaries episode, “Killed or Be Killed,” Mason (Taylor Kinney) is nothing but trouble, then again, can you blame him after Damon (Ian Somerhalder) tried killing him right after their truce chat?  Nah, me neither.

None the less, it is aggravating as Mason outed the brothers to the sheriff and it looked pretty bad for the boys as Sheriff Barney (OK, OK, Sheriff Forbes, played by Marguerite MacIntyre) almost took them down.

"Kill or Be Killed" - Candice Accola as Caroline in THE VAMPIRE DIARIES on The CW.

I thought it was a great twist that Caroline (Candice Accola) stepped up and saved the Salvador brothers from Sheriff Barney and her vampire killer squad.  She also stepped up and kicked some werewolf ass, Mason Lockwood’s that is, too.  She turned awesome in this episode!  “Hi mommy.“  That was rich!

The worrisome new story line comes from the idea that Stefan (Paul Wesley) is looking to ween himself back onto human blood so be can be strong enough to deal with the troubles that seem to be coming their way.  This has either great potential or great disaster.

- Nina Dobrev as Katherine, Ian Somerhalder as Damon in THE VAMPIRE DIARIES on The CW.

I never saw this one coming, when we discover that Katherine and Mason seem to be in cahoots.  Mason was looking for the moonstone for her.  And of course, it was Katherine who caused the Lockwood curse to kick in on Mason.  Ah, she is so despicably evil.  I love it!  And she never quits… if she’s not tormenting one brother, it’s the other.  I think this is a wonderful role for Nina Dobrev, to play both the innocent focus of love and the evil manipulating blood sucker.  She’s doing it well with a wonderful distinction between her good and evil modes.  (I wasn’t sure it would work out)

This episode had some great little one liners stuffed in the action.  As Damon and Stefan are rescued by Caroline and she takes down the deputies, Damon suggests to Stefan to “Have some deputy” to recover his strength. Stefan declines.  And later at the house when everyone has recuperated, Caroline asks Stefan:  “Got some bunny in you?“  When Caroline first became a vampire, I wasn’t in favor of this direction that The Vampire Diaries franchise was taking, yet she’s collected herself and has become an asset to the Salvador brothers and Elena.

The show keeps surprising me and it’s a fun watch.  I hope you had as much fun too.
