Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride in The Walking Dead - review

There will be spoilers about the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead… Unlike some sites that just blurt it out in their titles you cannot avoid. Sheesh. Can TVLine be any more inconsiderate?

This first half of the season of The Walking Dead has been a little confusing, boring and then suddenly, way too exciting for my heart!

In the beginning of this fifth season of The Walking Dead, things started out pretty adrenaline driving while at Terminus.

Carol showed up in the nick of time and rejoined the group. All while Rick and Carol kept tight-lipped about why or how she left the group earlier last season.

But then the group split up and we followed different characters in different directions. Somewhat like last season, but this time there was something lacking about the multiple threads of story.

I was not feeling “it” from the show, as well as other peers were not. And the only thing I could come up with was that the Atlanta Hospital was not an all consuming foe of the group like The Governor was. The hospital folks were just on facet of all the evils of this world that was threatening the different facets of our group.

But one thing I do know, is that I liked where Rick is headed. He’s now the no-holds barred kind of survivor this world of zombies needs. No longer is he giving people second chances. If someone proves themselves untrustworthy, well, that is their decision. And it is not a good one. It’s a one-strike ball game now.

Tonight’s shocker for the mid-season finale, was the sudden and shocking death of Beth. I do not know who saw that coming, but I did not.

Hey, at least with the trade that Rick made with that crazy sheriff woman, they got Carol back.

And why flying bodies in the title? If you saw the episode, you know that Rick runs over a cop, sending him flying. And another cop gets shoved down an elevator shaft by Dawn and Beth.

This first half of the season delivered some great developments. Some we saw coming, like Eugene not really being the scientist he claimed to be, to Morgan following along behind the group and maybe, just maybe, just now, realizing he was on the trail of Rick Grimes while he follows those tree symbols.

Either way, this was a decently engaging season so far, and I can only surmise that the upcoming back half of the season of The Walking Dead will be pretty exciting.
