Thundercats Lion-O concept art
News on the street is that Warner Brothers has snagged Charlie Wen (Gatchaman, Illustrator on Gods of War 1 & 2) to work on some concept work for the much anticipated Thundercats animated movie project. He now joins the ranks with Gerry O’Flagherty to direct.
According to the Thundercats The Movie.net, voice casting is also underway. (This report is dated 12/29.)
But then Collider (On 12/27) is saying that the project is not happening. Or to quote them precisely, “it seems like Lion-O’s Sword of Omens won’t be calling on any of the other Thundercats anytime soon.”
This project has been on everyone’s hoped-for front burner for quite a while but actively speaking, it has floundered and just floated around some drain in WB’s back closet.
Do we believe in what Thundercats The Movie.net indicates good news, but I might point out, has no source? Or Collider, with the industry connections I trust?
That’s your call. Me? I’m not holding my breath yet for any Thundercats movie until a studio steps up and says something definitive.
