Meteor Witnessed

The other night witnesses were reporting a meteor that appeared as a greenish ball of fire that was subsequently followed by a flash of light and in some cases, a boom.

The headlines that caught my attention were impressive but once you get to the crux of the matter, the romantic excitement about the idea of impending doom and alien invasions gets put back on the back-burner.

The meteor was seen across an expansive piece of sky where witnesses ranged from Florida to Oklahoma, but alas, by expert estimations, what was spotted was probably nothing more than a piece of rock the size of a pebble.

It’s estimated impact point was near Poteau Mountain, Oklahoma.

But with the birds dropping out of the sky*, the aggressive winter, the flooding down under, I’m thinking I might need to read up on that Mayan calendar prediction! *The birds just didn’t drop out of the sky in Beebe… here in the Bay Area we had a group of 100 birds drop dead. In flight movie might have been pretty bad! But on the end of life on December 21, 2012, well, A: I guess we’ll see and B: What crap timing… we spend all that time and money and we’re going to go poof!?
