‘Transformers 3’ in 3D – Bringing Your Own Eye Gear

'Transformers' 3D GlassesBring your own, custom (sort of) 3D head gear to Transformers 3 (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) this summer when it opens in theaters on July 1st, 2011.  Wait!  Before you poo-poo the idea, take a gander at what your 3D glasses will look like for the movie:

That’s right gang, the Transformers 3 themed 3D glasses will be masks with Real 3D Glasses attached and they are called ‘cine-masks’.

There are two versions of cine-masks available for your Transformers 3 experience, an Optimus Prime or Bumblebee head gear.

These 3D masks are expected to go on sale for an estimated $10 price tag at retailers that sell Hasbro gear, near the time of the opening of the movie.

I think it’s a cute gimmick but if you actually head out and look totally cool while watching your movie, you’re adding to the already ridiculous overhead of paying for a 3D movie.  Now I will probably make Transformers: Dark of the Moon my 2nd ever 3D movie that I’ve attended, but I’m not adding more to the damage it could do to my wallet unless someone sends me a promo set to test out for my readership.

With that said, this will be an an interesting marketing test.  That’s for sure.
