A few days ago it was reported on the internet that “insiders” were saying that Michael Bay had to call in 3D post production help with some of his shot scenes from Transformers 3 (Transformers: Dark of the Moon). The article states the film was shot in 2D with some scenes in 3D and that some of the 3D isn’t up to snuff. The article ends with the predictive (or defensive) phrase “Expect the studio and filmmakers to deny or spin the story by this weekend.“ Huh, go figure.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned it is that Michael Bay likes to step up personally to correct what he deems as errant reports on the internet when it comes to Transformers 3. The other thing is that he is not shy nor does he pull punches. What I’m learning is that if I ever get “insider” scoops, make sure they’re right!

In his latest response to the 3D news Bay states “Wow, I read these morons on the internet who think they are in the know. “We have have problems with our 3D????” Really? Come into my edit room and I will show you beautiful 3D. There has never been a live action show that has pushed the boundaries of 3D like Transformers 3. We shot the entire movie with 3D cameras.

He took the same corrective action with news about the Marina City scene being cut from T3… where he clarified that the scene was cut because the building he wanted to film at wanted $40k for a location shoot fee and chose to move on to stay within budget.

Previously in early September Bay ripped into another site whose sources led them wildly astray about Michael not shooting in 3D with the following response: “Who is this moron posting about what I’m shooting with??? People have no idea how hard we have worked to bring 3D filming into live action shooting. We have invented rigs and systems to place 3d cameras like no other live action movie has done before. The proof will be noticed on the final product.

Like I said, he’s not shy.

In other bits, Bay took the time on the same forum he sets his pen to, to make clear that The Twins are not back in Transformers 3 (I can hear a lot of people cheering on that one. There were a lot of critics of the two.) & that very early on they were shooting in LA, Chicago, Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Africa, Moscow, and China.

We also learned from Michael Bay that one of the newest Transformers we’ll see in T3 will be a Ferrari 458 Italia.

He’s also taken the time to confirm some good news in that Cocaine Cowboys is not dead, he’s just been busy with Transformers 3 otherwise known as Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

It’s pretty nice that despite being swarmed with production duties on his movie he takes the time to check in with his fans on the forums.
