In case you hadn’t heard, Fox has “canceled” Dollhouse. Or to be more precise, Fox did not order any more episodes beyond the 13 they’ve already ordered. They will finish airing the entire 13 episode 2nd season in December. If you haven’t noticed, it’s not on in November because Fox pulled it during sweeps month.
Joss Whedon said he was disappointed, but will have the show go out in a grand fashion.
Though I tried liking Dollhouse, it was confounding. The programmable “Dolls” were confusing, and the injection of their assignments into developing stories of the main characters felt distracting to me.
I’m not surprised that Fox renewed for a 2nd season, but didn’t renew Dollhouse beyond the 13 episodes. As it is, they have never lived down what they did with Firefly, but it is what it is.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the final nail in the coffin and Whedon turns to self-funded internet programming. I mean, he is working on the sequel for Dr. Horrible! Now he’ll have more time.
