TV News Bits: New shows, Cancellations, Larry Hagmann, Hugh Laurie + More

tv newsI don’t know about you, but the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade wasn’t.  It was a series of stage productions on the street.  I had forgotten that and tuned in to watch a parade.  Boy was I disappointed.  But apparently, the TV ratings for the parade were up 10% overall and jumped 24% in the 18-49 viewers.

On a sad piece of greed, the NHL announced that the league set of scheduled games through December 14th and the All-Star Weekend in Columbus have been canceled.  So far, this accounts for just over 34% of the games from the regular season.

Word on the street is that the Discovery Channel has cancelled Dirty Jobs.  Sorry.

Larry Hagman passed away today… RIP good sir.

Downton Abbey has been renewed for a fourth season over in the UK.

There’s a new series coming up on NBC, where one of Denmark’s hottest actors, Mads Mikkelsen, is slated to play Hannibal in the series by the same name.

Hugh Laurie is looking at a potential new role in an NBC series called Crossbones.  The new role will be the starring role in the series, of Blackbeard.
