Wow, was that not a powerful episode of Supernatural or what? The last episode of Supernatural saw the Leviathon, Dick Roman, put a bullet in Bobby Singers (Jim Beaver) head.

The following TV review is full of SPOILERS, so proceed at your own risk!

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in Supernatural ep Death's Door

In the mid-season finale episode titled “Death’s Door,” we find ourselves split between two worlds. The one where Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) are waiting, worried, in the hospital, and the other where Bobby is floating around through various memories of his life.

Bobby runs across the deceased Rufus (Steven Williams) [It was good to see Rufus again!] and other memories like when as a child, confronting his abusive father.

All the while, Bobby is trying to fend off, run from or stall the reaper from taking him.

Supernatural Recap

As the Supernatural episode started, I feared that what we were seeing in the first 15 minutes was going to be some silly collection of scene recaps. I feared the doldrums. Silly me, what was I thinking?

As the episode progressed, we watched Bobby confront memories of his wife, his childhood and a good memory or two of Sam and Dean.

Bobby even trapped the reaper for a moment or two. But as Bobby lay on the hospital bed, the bullet was eating away at his brain cells, destroying his memories. Or at least that’s what the reaper was telling Bobby.

TV Review: Bobby Singer in mid-season finale of Supernatural, called Death's Door

As the episode progressed, heart strings were starting to get tugged, right up until the point where Bobby wakes up for a moment, to get a message to the boys, writes something on Sam’s hand, and then he flat lines.

Of course, not before Bobby gets a proud look on his face, calls the brothers idgets, and then flat lines. We actually got a lot of great Bobby catch phrases, from “Balls” to “Dunce Cap” referring to his head.

As the episode progressed, deeper emotions were getting tagged, until that last moment. It’s this cliff-hanger that we were left with until Supernatural returns on January 6th.

And The CW had very smart previews of that episode, not showing one single scene with Bobby in it. (I have a gripe with networks that give you cliffhangers, and then show previews that pretty much destroy the mindset of the cliffhanger and give it all away. KUDOS to the CW!)

So until January, we’ll just have to sit and worry about Bobby, and wonder if Jim Beaver renewed his contract through to the end of this season!!!

[ – – – In fact, let me set up a potential cliffhanger spoiler:
In all the news about Jim Beaver‘s contract with Supernatural, the conversation has been about his pursuit of other shows while being part-time on Supernatural. And subsequent conversations that indicate future plans for Beaver in the show. That’s why I surmise that he’ll be fine come January in Supernatural, but that’s just an educated guess on my part!
End spoiler – – – ]

What do you folks think? He’ll survive?

What the ….. is going on? You guys have no story any more and now you killed Bobby? First you kill Cass and by the way, what ever happened to all those demands that were in Cass when he blew up? Where did they go? like I say, NO STORY any more. Oh yea where the heck is Deans car?????? You are killing the show and trust me I am a fan. Now I rather watch the repeats Mon.-Fri. at 10am.
