A collected piece of Joss Whedon news bits that aren’t The Avengers. We’re chatting about The Cabin in the Woods along with an embedded clip of interviews from the movie, courtesy Fearnet; And we touch a bit on Much Ado About Nothing.

The Cabin in the Woods is coming out to theaters nationwide on April 13th 2012. It is “a movie made by me (Joss Whedon) and Drew (Goddard)” Joss emphasizes the movie is from both of them in the video snippet below.

Cabin in the Woods was shot in 2009 and getting ready for release when MGM stalled the release to post-process the project into 3D, (Yea, I know), and then the studio had its financial issues and stalled the movie release.

Then fans started to worry about maybe never seeing the movie. (Can someone say Goners? Though that was a little different than this. More on Goners in another piece here on Brusimm.)

But then Lionsgate stepped up, took the reigns from MGM and set the movie back on course.

The Cabin in the Woods stars Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers), Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz* (Dollhouse), Jesse Williams (Brooklyn’s Finest, Grey’s Anatomy), Richard Jenkins (The Rum Diary, Six Feet Under), Bradley Whitford, Brian White (The Shield, Men of a Certain Age) & Amy Acker* (Dollhouse, Happy Town).

Below is a set of quick video interviews with some of the creative team from Cabin in the Woods… Here are some points made in the video from FearNet:

They touch on having to stay mum about the movie for three years.

Joss notes that the the movie is self-contained… meaning there’s no hint of sequels within the structure of the film.

They’ve noticed the great fan enthusiasm/anticipation for the movie and even though it would seem we already know the twist to The Cabin in the Woods, Joss says

it’s going to go somewhere they don’t even see coming.

Check it out:

*Fran Kranz and Amy Acker will be joining such actors as Nathan Fillion, Alexis Denisof, Ashley Johnson, Clark Gregg (Yes, SHIELD Agent Coulson!), Riki Lindhome, Sean Maher, and more in an upcoming Joss Whedon project called

Much Ado About Nothing

A small little project that Joss Whedon himself is producing with his Bellwether Pictures label.

It’s

“A modern retelling of Shakespeare’s classic comedy about two pairs of lovers with different takes on romance and a way with words.”

and presumably, it’s due out sometime this year (2012). Just something to keep your eye for…

In the mean time, prepare theyself for The Cabin… with this movie trailer clip:
