OK, first off, maybe I should lead this with how AMC is creating a spin-off from The Walking Dead. AMC has not given the show a name yet, so I’ll just give a nickname of Walking Dead L.A.. That’s because the series will be set in the location of Los Angeles, CA.
The latest news is that AMC has ordered two seasons of the spin-off. But it sounds bigger than it really is, so don’t fall for the hype.
The first season will only be six episodes, one hour each, that will premiere in late 2015, around summer time. The next six, or “second” season, will premiere “sometime” in 2016.
So we are barely getting a single season’s worth of undead, skin-flapping monsters hungry for brains!
These words of “season trickery” reminds me of when AMC ordered ‘x’ additional episodes to the final season of Breaking Bad, then split the “season” up across two years, or, pragmatically speaking, as two seasons.
I’m not sure why the heck they just did not come out and call it seasons five and six, but then again, I guess you can do whatever you want when you have a smash hit on your hands.
The spinoff will take place during the same time frame of the original series and stars Cliff Curtis (“Missing”), Kim Dickens (“Gone Girl”), Frank Dillane (“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”) and Alycia Debnam Carey (“Into the Storm”).
Meanwhile, back on The Walking Dead, wow, is this Alexandria town story line just not totally crazy? I have no clue what to do about it. Is it a good place and we are just shell shocked about our stars travels to this point in time? Or are we rightly suspicious of these snakes that all smile way too much?
Plus we have that new wrinkle, that being the letters in walkers heads? Is there a rival village out there?
