Warehouse 13 & Eureka to Have Crossover Event (And WH13 new Cast Member)

I’m sure you’ve heard of it by now**, but in case you haven’t, Warehouse 13 & Eureka are going to have a major crossover event… ON TELEVISION no less, on the Syfy Channel.

Normally when I hear the term crossover, I’ve always likened it to comic book titles and an effort to push more consumers to buy more titles… which for me, usually worked… damnit.

But this is different! This is a crossover of two television shows, much like when the CSI police procedural series crossed over a single plot across all three series.

This could be very sweet. Eureka citizens, well, Fargo is sent to update the Warehouse 13 computers and then Claudia heads over to Eureka and strange things happen there where she gets to help. Doesn’t actually sound like a big plot crossover, but what the heck!

When, you ask, does this crossover happen???

It starts with the Warehouse 13 episode titled “13.1” on Tuesday*, Aug. 3. It will then continue on into Eureka in the episode titled “Crossing Over,” which airs on Friday, Aug. 6.

SYFY STARGATE CAPRICA SANCTUARY SMACKDOWN

Watch Wrestling take over Fridays and our Genre get kicked to Tuesdays

*Yes, Tuesdays. Syfy shoved the Friday night slate of programming over into Tuesday nights to make room for their Friday night wrestling fare. The programming will do well for Syfy with the installed fan base that will come with the wrestling, but will probably alienate other fans and possibly kill the Tuesday night shows.

As I ponder this, the crossover makes sense, from the channel’s perspective. This will bring more focus to the Syfy Channel’s Tuesday night move if they’re willing to have events span shows. Now… if we could get a decent Stargate Universe / Eureka / Warehouse 13 crossover! Come on, it makes sense. They’re all super top-secret environments, super scientific or supernatural powered shows. It could work. Knock knock… hello, Syfy… Bruce here! I have an idea…

Saul Rubinek from Warehouse 13

Saul Rubinek

Readers: Has anyone noticed we have seen any of Artie in any of the previews for Warehouse 13? A real quick search doesn’t turn up any news that Saul Rubinek has left the show, but he has 4 other movies in the works for 2010. Knucklehead, Barney’s Version, and in development, Three Days in Dublin and The Suspect at St. Mark’s Place. He also played a role in the CBS TV Movie Jesse Stone: No Remorse. Not sure what this all means right now. I’ll have to do some digging, though is it possible that Syfy is doing proper marketing? What I mean by that is that the Warehouse blew up in the season finale of Warehouse 13! And Syfy is keeping us in the dark as to his predicament, unlike ads for other shows where they leave you with an enticing mystery, but then the ad for the next episode pretty much resolves it! (Not great planning if you ask me!)

(A note about the picture of Saul: At San Diego Comic-Con during a WH13 panel, when Saul noticed I was trying to take a picture of him, he continued to talk, but stared at me until I gave him the thumbs up that I captured a great picture. In my book, he made a fan out of me with that moment! Thanks Saul!!! I thought that was pretty cool of you! LOL, look at me, writing as if he reads my web news site!)

ALSO, wait, don’t go away yet intrepid reader! Is everyone fully aware of the new Warehouse 13 cast member? Can we say Jewel Staite? Yep! Jewel Staite joined Warehouse 13 cast! (Yea, Jewel kept staring at me while I took a pict … Oh, I wish!!!)

** And yes, this is week old news… sorry… I’ve been swamped with season finales, series finales and the premise that sleep happens, no matter how much you want to write! So I tried to make up for it with some original, out of the box thinking here!

Psst: Don’t forget, Wil Wheaton is guesting on Eureka this season!

Jewel Staite in WAREHOUSE 13 is great.

She was perfect for WONDERFALLS and STARGATE ATLANTIS.

Thanks for the information. I thought for sure that Saul Rubinek was toast. I tweeted to both Saul and Eddie McClintock, but only heard the chirps of the Twitter crickets. Now if only we could get Syfy to make a Stargate Atlantis movie. Sigh. Oh, how I miss Rodney McKay.

SPOILER: I know for a fact that Saul Rubinek is filming WH13S2, in what capacity I have no idea. Hopefully as the living, breathing Artie we all know and love.

Okay, I checked. One film is in post production, one is complete, and two show as “in production” (but that doesn’t tell us if he finished filming it already or not).

SPOILERS ahead: Fear Not! Saul is returning to Warehouse 13 next season. I think you are right in that they are trying to make his ‘death’ be in question but long ago I read his contract had been renewed. Secondly, there have been quite a few local photos (from the town where episodes are filmed outdoors) that show his involvement is ongoing. I also believe that some of the films you mentioned were in post production (forgive me if I’m wrong about that). I don’t think this is going to interfere with his activity on the show. (Thank goodness, because he’s (Artie) my favorite character and I really and truly enjoy Saul Rubinek’s acting).
