Justice League movie news

Normally studios keep details about their upcoming movies to a minimum until just before they open. But with more than a year and a half out, WB is starting to drop hints via Zack Snyder on what’s up with the upcoming Justice League movie. Which is odd. Is WB nervous enough about the film to start dispensing press about the film? Considering what’s happened with their films so far, I would not be surprised.

Be it as it may, here’s the update that the press world has received so far…

Justice League film itself:

Snyder is saying that this film will have a lighter tone than Batman V Superman(BvS). Though to be honest, I hope they figure that out because usually their humor isn’t always on-mark. I guess this is in reaction to the dour tone the BvS film had. And I won’t mention WB’s knee-jerk reaction to BvS by reshooting Suicide Squad to make it more exciting, but without substantial filler.

But then again, these characters are not Marvel characters. They are very serious characters, so obviously there will be a bit of a deviation from core film characters.

Part of this lighter tone will be Ezra Miller’s character, The Flash. He’s going to be young, fun and full of life. (Of course, I can’t wait to see how they handle Flash, the movie character and Flash, the TV character.)

It will not be a two-parter, but a stand-alone story. That’s good, because I hate when they make multi-chapter films.

Snyder isn’t feeling too much pressure from the BvS “flop.” Meaning, BvS didn’t make a billion at the box-office like everyone on the studio side expected it to or wanted.

Though to be honest, the way Snyder hodge-podged together the elements of BvS, as if the film were only for hard-core fans, worries me that he’s going to make another critical flop. He left a lot of development filler out of the opening act, leaving fans who never read the comics a bit confounded as he jumped around with developing details.

You can see what I really thought of Snyder’s BvS project and how he screwed it up for all movie fans, here, at Brusimm’s sister site, Cinema Static: How Snyder Screwed up BvS.

– Batman

They’re going to make Batman more sardonic, meaning more dark, grim or cynical humor as Batman works to bring the JL team together. (I’m OK with that… if they do it right)

The batmobile will have more upgrades, like more missiles, more cannons and machine guns. (To be honest, I did not mind this version of Batman, who had no aversion to killing bad guys, if he had to. It felt more of a realistic vigilante.)

– He said that Darkseid won’t be the main bad guy, but rather Steppenwolf, another resident of Apokolips, where Darkseid is from.

– Wonder Woman:

Wonder Woman

OK, brace yourself because I think we’re getting a warning instead of a preview, but Wonder Woman will be more like we saw in BvS than she will be in her own stand-alone film. What they mean is that the Wonder Woman film will her origins film. I’m hoping to enjoy that flick because as it stands, I enjoyed her presence in BvS.

– Superman

Yes, Superman will be in Justice League, but we will also see that rebirth mullet we got when he came back to life in the 1993 comics. I have not seen anything but if we will have to power up again, like he did in the comics, where it took forever for him to hit full-power.

– Green Lantern

We will see GL in this film, but word on the street is that we won’t see him get recruited to the JL yet. That’s for another JL film.

Nor do we know which GL it will be, Hal Jordan, John Stewart or someone else.

– Shazam

There seems to be no plans for Shazam to show up in the film.

These are the tidbits that we’ve been fed so far, in regards to the upcoming Justice League movie that’s due out in November of 2017. We have no reason to not believe any of this content, but in the past, fans have been fed misinformation leading up to many a film’s release. So I suggest a small grain of salt be applied, just in case!

The film has potential but as long as WB doesn’t muck too much with what they think might work better versus just letting the film be as it could, well, we’ll see. Right? This film had been delayed for a long time and WB/DC have been struggling with how to not look like Marvel Studios in how they release their movies, but as you can see, with the apparent addition of “humor” to subsequent films, they’re buckling a little bit to what they think more movie-goers will respond to, versus what their characters have traditionally been like. All in the hopes of chasing that “billion” dollar box office hit!
