New Movies This WeekNew movies coming out this Friday, October 19th, 2012, include stars like Katie Featherston, Kathryn Newton, Rachel Nichols, Tyler Perry, Giancarlo Esposito, Helen Hunt, Olivia Thirlby, & John Krasinski.

First up…

-

Paranormal Activity 4 NEW!
R, 1 hr 35 min

The fourth chapter in the found footage style fright fest.  From the trailers, it looks like it’s ignoring that the third movie even happened (But I could be surprised) and takes place five years after Katie and Hunter disappear from the house at the end of the first movie.

Kathryn Newton in Paranormal Activity 4

The cast includes Katie Featherston, Kathryn Newton (Gary Unmarried), and other ghost victims!

Filmmakers Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish) are bringing this franchise to fans once again.

Oddly enough, IMDb users, over a thousand of them, have chimed in with a 4/10 score on the movie and mainstream movie critics are doing what they do to popcorn fun franchises.  It’s said the movie brings nothing new to the story, but does deliver the jumps and frights fans have come to love.

That’s fine by me!

Alex Cross NEW!
PG-13, 1 hr 41 min

Tyler Perry in Alex Cross movie

An action movie with a PG-13 is almost like a warning sign!  Plus, you, myself or anyone we know has seen this movie yet, and there’s news of a sequel in the works already.  Seriously?  I guess they want to make this movie sound exciting enough to say that.  The other warning sign is that I don’t see any early reviews.  Hmm.

Be it as it may, the cast includes  Rachel Nichols, Tyler Perry as  Dr. Alex Cross, Giancarlo Esposito, Matthew Fox, Jean Reno with Edward Burns.

It’s about “A homicide detective is pushed to the brink of his moral and physical limits as he tangles with a ferociously skilled serial killer who specializes in torture and pain. ”

It’s directed by Rob Cohen (xXx: State of the Union, xXx, and other fairly popular action flicks), so it may have some hope.  But a sequel?

The Sessions NEW!

William H. Macy in The Sessions movie

Chiming in at a short 95 minutes but rated R, this movie has an interesting premise where a man in an iron lung wants to lose his virginity and goes through a sex surrogate and a priest to get it done.  Seriously!

The cast includes  John Hawkes, Helen Hunt, William H. Macy and Moon Bloodgood and is directed by the writer, Ben Lewin.

Early numbers with a low number of folks chiming in (~600) have this movie at 6.4/10.

Nobody Walks

Olivia Thirlby in Nobody Walks movie

An 83 minute, R rated movie starring Olivia Thirlby, Jane Levy, John Krasinski, Dylan McDermott and others.  This movie is about a “Silver Lake family’s relaxed dynamic is tested after they take in a young artist so she can complete her art film.”

Ry Russo-Young is the Director/Writer.
