The New Feud This Week

Did everyone see the early race incident where a loose Joey Logano tagged Ryan Newman and sent him spinning? From my perspective, it was just one of those close racing deals. It might have seemed soemthing a bit different from Ryan Newman’s perspective… at least on Sunday afternoon that is.

After the race Newman chatted up Logano and more or less gave Logano a piece of his mind about his (Logano’s) inability to drive.  Logano seemed to think Newman had the entire track above him and Newman thought he was being forced into the wall.

In this instance, Joey’s take on the spatial location of space was innacurate but what surprised me is Ryan Newman’s reaction.  He just had his chances of getting into the 2010 Chase for the Cup minimized a bit more with his altercation with Logano. And this, following the week where Newman was fined for speaking his mind.

I’ve never seen Newman get upset enough to physically “speak” with his hands and was surprised to see it.  I think once they both see the video (of the racing deal) I think cooler heads will prevail on this one and we’ll be OK again.

Then again, looking at the transcript of the “conversation,” I get the impression that Newman has had issues with Logano previously.  Then again, word in the garage is that Ryan Newman is a hard man to pass during race day.

I can see both sides of this one…  if someone is passing you, let them by.  Then again, if someone can pass you, let them earn it.  If their car is good enough to catch you, it better be good enough to get the job finished.  If it isn’t, so be it.  (Hmm..  since I wrote more on the latter thought, I’m guessing I’m leaning that way!)
