The Avengers, from Joss Whedon, movie logoObviously, when Joss Whedon fans found out that he landed the directorial job of helming the movie, The Avengers, it was a good day for his fans.  The collective of fans, called the Whedonverse, cheered.

But I just noticed, as I was perusing the credits of the movie, that Whedonverse fans can look forward to a few other little surprises!

I was perusing the cast list of the movie over on IMDb and saw two names that come from the alumni of Joss projects.

Alexis Denisof and Eliza Dushku in Dollhouse

I see that Alexis Denisof (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, & upcoming Much Ado About Nothing) has a role in the movie… but I think talking about his role could be a story spoiler.  As in, a surprise kind of spoiler.   I would like to say, PLEASE DON’T LOOK if you really don’t want to take anything away from your movie experience.  Just know that Alexis is in it somewhere.  I’ve already had a few details spoiled for me, and I have to say, it was very upsetting.

But, with that said, and if you must (OR, you’ve already seen the movie)…
Denisof is playing a character called ‘The Other.’  Under IMDb, they say The Other has an alternate name of Annihilus.  Another website touches on what this could mean and the comments there give up details from folks who have seen the movie.  They do confirm that this is Annihilus.  You’ll see him in the mid-credit scene. I would really, really, really suggest NOT going over to the other site to see the conversation until maybe after seeing the movie.  [comic book movie]
Enver Gjokaj in Community

Enver Gjokaj (Dollhouse) will be playing a ‘young cop’ in the movie.

I dug around and didn’t see any other Joss alums, but hey, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any in the cast… there might be some uncredited cameos.

Ashley Johnson who played Wendy as the host body for Caroline’s imprint in Dollhouse Season 1, “Omega,” made a cameo as the waitress who thanked Captain America and the Avengers after the battle in Manhattan.
